You download their program onto your PC and it then searches a range of travel websites and hotel websites to provide price comparisons for hotels. These can be sorted by hotel name or grade, distance, price, cost saving etc. There's a currency option so you can get the prices in pounds, dollars, euros etc.

Its a one time installation, and then each time you use the program it will check for and download any updates.

There's a login option, however you can also just use the program by leaving the login details blank.

Its an American website, so its particularly good for USA, but also has fairly good coverage for most UK and European cities.

Once you've selected the hotel you can either book via travelaxe or go to the cheapest website yourself and book directly.

It sometimes includes special rates that you may not qualify to use (eg US govt) and the WorldRes rates seems to be unreliable.

However, those issues aside, it usually provides a good overview of the booking options and prices available.
