Ah I see, a friend of mine is in the same boat. Looking at moving from BT but is miles from the exchange so speed probably won't improve much.0

Wrong!!O2 will not allow you play around with your line configuration to achieve optimal performance like Be do.
Sorry, but they do.....call them and they do it whilst speaking to you.0 -

I don't think we're on the same page. What Be do can't be done within the space of a single call, unless O2 have a crystal ball at their call centre. They increment/decrement and enable settings over a period of time one by one, analysing the stats report from both the home router and the equipment at their end to determine the next course of action, ie finding the correct balance of speed and reliability for your line.
The mainstream ISP's will just drop you on the default profile which is high reliability but not necessarily the quickest speed you can get. Most people don't want to mess about with it or aren't interested in squeezing a few extra mb/s out of the connection especially if it means they have to test less stable profiles, which is probably the main reason those ISP's don't offer that level of service because they are targeting the wider general population rather than a smaller niche.0 -
This site is all and well and good but it says that my neighbour has BT Option 3 ... Max Speed 20Mbps:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: sorry folks not possible to achieve that here because we are still on an old ADSL exchange and there is no unbundling in our exchange so 8mbps is the best we can get I have actually achieved 6.12 at 3am but typically it is between 1.1 and 5 , currently 4.9. But I am on Plusnet and schedule my downloads between 0000 midnight and 0730 so I don't impact my 10G limit. What speed do you get with BT? Have a look at this site, enter your postcode and it shows the speed and ISP of your neighbours Internet connections. See if someone has Be in the area to get another indication of what speed you might get: http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/broadband_speed_in_my_area.aspx4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Hi,
thanks for all the replies - I note that some people are arranging for their downloads to happen in the offpeak hours - how do you do that - with regards to iplayer for example?0 -

Yes it tells you which package they are on e.g. up to 20mb. But what actual speed does it show in the balloon?0
