Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning.

It's looking lovely outside here today and sun is forecast again, I'll peg the washing out shortly :T

I cleaned the kitchen last night and will do the living room tonight so I can keep on top of everything. I'm thankful for the Flylady lists which keep me on the straight and narrow :rotfl:

My DD is working every night at the hotel this week until 11pm and she's going straight from her college placement. I think she'll be shattered and it's maybe too much but she's looking forward to the extra money next week :money: It's her and DS1's 18th birthdays on the 12 & 15 of May and at least they'll have money to out and celebrate I suppose.

Lunch today is a turkey salad sandwich, a pear and a yoghurt and tea tonight is tomato and bacon pasta sauce with spaghetti.

LadyGrim Continued hugs to you xx

Diva Hope you got your meds sorted yesterday hon xx

JackieO I'll miss reading about Basil's adventures

Jackieglasgow Hope the back is improving

Hugs and love to anyone else who needs one this morning and have a good day whatever you end up doing xxx

    Morning all,

Beautiful day here again, although I am having to water my garden pots each day at the moment, don't normally have to do it this time of the year.

Two loads of washing to do today, will get them on in a second. I start my new 'at home' job this morning, so once I am back from the school run I will start on that.

This afternoon I want to have a clean and tidy round, and prepare dinner, meatballs with spaghetti, ( I need to make veggie balls for dd). I also have a man coming today to quote me for hanging the wallpaper in dd'd room, hopefully that will be done by the end of the week.

I got stung by a wasp yesterday, I had forgotten how much that hurts, I did run into the kitchen and put vinegar straight on it, which took the sting out ;)

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

Good Morning everyone a beautiful sunny day here at the moment and looks as though its here for the day fingers crossed .i too shall misss 'basil' even if he did make an awful lot of noise at my window in the morning I haven't seen hide nor feather of him since I came home last friday.I don't know if the local moggy has had him for supper, or if he has just abandoned 'mrs basil' to her own devices I'm not too well versed in our feathered friends. It does seem strangely quiet without his racket first thing though.
Got my car beatifully cleaned yesterday and its looking quite smart out on the drive, won't last long though as I'm back on the school run tomorrow morning with three noisey little boys and their school paraphanalia of boots, bags ect.
Youngest DD is coming round this morning as its her day off and wants to go down to the Dockside shopping area in Chatham I think so that will make a nice change.apart from that not a lot of OS to do today will be a relaxing one I think.Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines for you wherever you are
    Cheers JackieO xx

Morning everyone from and overcast and "looks like rain" Inverness.

Up and at 'em today, bis sis and BIL arriving for a few days up at mine, it's the first time they have visited my house so it's nice to be able to look after them this time ('ve mooched loads of weekends at them :o ) So lots of things planned and just getting ready to go in and try an OS shop for visitors!! Meal plans in place and list done.

Bedrooms done, toilets and halls done, living room half done and kitchen floor still waiting, they wont arrive til PM but like to be organised.

Dont know if I will be back on line til next Monday so if not hope you all have a good week and an even better weekend. Think the weather looks good for South of the border, and the norm for up here. Wheres my snow shoes? :)

    Good Morning,

Bright up here but doesn't look promising this morning. Thanks for asking, my back's a lot better this morning!!!! All that action I saw in my dreams with George, Ewen, Gerry et al seems to have done the trick ;) Acrobatics here I come. Actually, I've been doing some Yoga stretches which seems to have helped no end!

WM on washing drying, pack ups for me and the boys done, having tea and then will have some Branflakes and a nana this morning, can't be bothered cooking porridge. After school I have yesterday's FLYing list to finish and todays to attack.

I have training at work today, so it will be a long one. Not lookinf forward to it, very complicated and dreary from what I've been told, but needs must, I suppose.

Have a great day, OS or not, and hugs to LadyGrim, Diva PenPin and anyone else who needs one!

  • Hi Guys!

Long time since I last posted but things have been very manic here over the past couple of months. OH has damaged his knee and awaiting an operation which will put him out of action for 2-3 months. We see his consultant next week to find out options and recovery info etc. I’ve been in hospital 3 times with different problems, the main thing being that my kidneys aren’t working well and feeling sick most of the time, so have had to be tube fed again which is NOT pleasant! The nurses are coming in twice daily and have now employed an extra carer to help 3/4 times a week and she will probably be daily when OH has his operation. I am struggling to do the most basic of things as pain and fatigue is so intense.

My morale has been very low and I think I’ve been quite depressed at times. I’ve not spoken to my sister since November and have got several nasty texts from her blaming me for things that happened when we were kids and also a letter. We’ve had to switch off from it all as this was effecting my health and recovery but we are so concerned about the kids as she is now heavily drinking daily. Her new BF is nasty and controlling and she rarely has the kids. It’s sickening to watch when I see nephew posting alarming things on facebook-luckily his father checks everything but it’s still worrying. It’s got to the point where I feel I need to step in to protect the kids.

I am just feeling a lot of self pity atm and keep wondering what will happen next. There are other things going on too!

Hope everyone has been keeping okay.

    Morning All :hello:,

My backside did not touch the ground yesterday so I've not caught up on the thread. Hoping for a slightly less stressful day as I have a driving lesson later and won't be able to concentrate if I get too busy/stressed today.

OS wise today, I need to catch up on my ironing (I don't know when I'm going to have time to do that though!) and tea tonight is going to be cod and chorizo in a tomato sauce, served with a baked potato and green salad.

Hugs to all (especially Ladygrim and MSD) have a lovely day xx

ETA - great to see you posting PenPin xx

    Morning All

Not sure what the weather is like here yet...I haven't looked but it was really warm overnight - and I turned the heating off last night as it had been still coming on for an hour on a morning and evening.

Busy day MSing today so not much time for anything OS and dinner tonight is an MS job too - pizza! Good job really as I'm sure after all the jobs I've got on today the last thing I'll feel like doing is cooking! Most of my jobs this morning are at a place on the coast so might see if we can stop for a bit of lunch near the shore.

Right better get the munchkin sorted and get DH out of his pit....

    Have a good day! x

Edited to add - my broccolli shoots started to come through yesterday :j
