Gumtree Buyer Asking for a Refund?!

I was wondering if someone could help me with a silly situation as it's been bugging me! I sold a footstool on gumtree and the buyer asked me to bring it round (for free!) cos she didn't have a car. The ad said delivery was extra, but since she was close, she convinced me to do it.
Now, I had spent a whole day cleaning this footstool (taking the fabric off, washing and re-upholstering it!). When I delivered it, I asked if it was as expected and she replied "yes, it's fine", paying the £5 and £1 for petrol.
Bearing in mind the work I put in cleaning and delivering it, at £5 I'm probably at a loss but I'm happy and I've saved it from the dump.
Anyway, I get home and she text me saying it smells and is stained and doesn't look "like new" as I described it (with pictures!) and I need to drive over to pick it up and give her a full refund !
Now she's taking the !!!!. I told her I'm sorry she doesn't like it, but I'm not obligated to offer a refund since she agreed to buy it after seeing it. It also wasn't dirty, as I cleaned it (yes, there was some vague discolouration but not bad). It doesn't smell as I would have noticed and she would have too when she carried it up under her chin and didn't complain or drop it in horror. Apparently, it smells so bad she can't even have it in her flat (rubbish).
What do you guys think? She says she can't afford to lose the money cos she's broke, even though no-one really needs a footstool, so why buy one if you can't afford it? What a diva, I've already done more than enough, plus, it was only a fiver! What did she expect?!
I think I'm right but she obviously doesn't. I only want to be fair. She also said it was covered in cat and dog hairs, even though we don't have a dog and our cat wasn't allowed on the footstool and it was covered with a throw. None of our other furniture has cat hair on either, so I know it was fine.
I know it's a long thread for such a silly thing, but it's buggin me! Does she honestly expect me to waste my time and money picking it up? She'd still have to pay my petrol anyway! What is the situation with gumtree?
Anyway, please post your opinion or if you've had a similar experience. I'd like to hear!
Btw, here's the pic of it just so you can judge for yourself:

Wow that's quite rude of her, if she didn't like it she should have said so at the time. I don't know an awful lot about this but I don't think you should have to refund her for her changing her mind after agreeing it was fine face to face. Plus for £5, I wouldn't bother kicking up such a fuss if I bought it.0

If she wants a refund then tell her to bring the footstool back to you. As she does not drive then she will need to get a taxi or take it on a bus.
Cant see her doing that, not for a £5 footstool.0 -

Yay a reply! Yeah I think you're totally right (mainly because you agree with me lol) and it was only £5! I think maybe she was stressed cos she was broke and was upset it wasn't perfect, but seriously, everyone's broke! I popped it round in my hundred year old car with the tyres falling off and she thinks somehow I can afford to give her a refund! lol :eek:0 -
I'm sure I can see a cat hair on that footstool :-) But seriously, tell her to take a running jump. If she has had the chance to look at it then and still wants to buy it thats her problem. If she isn't happy tell her to advertise it on Gumtree for 2 quid, and you might consider buying it back0

Tell her Buyer Beware, she had ample opportunity to reject is when you (very kindly) bought it round. She can take you to small claims if she feels that strongly, but it will cost her £00's to do it! Make yourself feel better by telling her to get lost.
BTW - is it me or does your footstool look like a bum??!!
