The wing mirror was hit because I was reversed into the space in front of garage as had some boxes to unload into garage, so I had left it there to go back to later, thinking it would be easy enough to unload the boxes directly into garage later on (it was raining). I had planned to open the boot and the garage door and unload the items.

So, you can see that my passenger wing mirror was now in the same spot as the drivers side back bumper now that I had reversed up to my garage. So I have had the drivers side back bumper clipped and the passenger wing mirror, depending on how I'd parked.

I did explain why I had used the space at the back to her, but she didn't really want to listen and even questioned that when my car had been parked in front of my own garage, why did my mum have to put her car in the "visitor bay" - when I could put my car in the garage and my mum could park in front of my garage.

This is coming from someone who also has a garage but never puts her car in it.

This is why I feel p***ed off about it.

I would ask your neighbour then if she puts her car in the garage her friend can park behind her? You put your car in your garage - your visitors can park behind you then there is a spare area? Its a comprimise these things can escalate out of control.

Ok, I was thinking that you drove up to the garages, not down past the garages. In that case I know it's a bit of hassle, but is there enough free space to fit a moveable bollard? One of those metal pole things that fit into the ground? That way you could park your car up and put the metal pole there so that neighbours hit that first and not your car?

In that case I would just ignore her and say either it's a visitor space or it's not and if it's not then your friend can park in front of your garage when she comes.

This is why I feel p***ed off about it.

Would it be worth having a word with some of the other neighbours? Maybe she's always been territorial over the space? Maybe all the other neighbours are as fed up with her as you are? If they are then maybe you could come up with some sort of written agreement that is acceptable to all of you?

I totally understand why you're angry and having your car damaged like that is not on however, any neighbour dispute will have to be declared when you sell it so I guess that an amicable solution would be best all round (if your neighbour can be amicable that is!)

If the bit of land is marked in red on the deeds and other neighbours simply have a right of passage over part of it and the wording does not exclude you parking there then if you like you can ignore your neighbour or point it out to her. Ensure that the deeds allow a right for a motorised vehicle. A right of access could easily mean on foot only,on horseback or whatever.. I know of someone who had a very very long and expensive civil dispute becuase the access to his land did not allow the use of motor vehicles, only on foot or as a bridleway.

If you are worried about wing mirror clippage etc when parked...buy or erm...acquire a couple of cheap road cones which you can use to fend off passing vehicles.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Even if you believe you're in the right and she falls out with you, it's still a neighbour dispute if it goes any further...
