Purchased car - Incorrect mileage
Options
My mother purchased a car for £1600. It was about 10 years old, but only read around 30k on the clock and the car was advertised and sold with 'genuine 30k mileage'.
She purchased the car (Stupidly). It was left on the drive for a few weeks as she still had her old car to drive until the petrol ran low. She used the car a few days ago and realized it was running terribly.
She took it to work where they have on-site mechanics. They looked at it and said it's on its way out. Also, it's done around 130k+ miles. It's just the clock had got to 100k and reset to 0. Only two years service history was given.
She purchased it from a dealer to has his own business. She's been in contact with him, wrote a letter explaining everything and that she wants a refund, got copies of the letters etc, but he's being arsey.
What position is she in? Has she lost the money?

What documents/evidence is there to say it has done more miles than it is displaying?0
-
What evidence was there to verify the '30k genuine mileage'?

view the mot history at motinfo.gov.uk and that will show the mileages at all the previous mots (post mot computerisation)
then break the !!!!s legs.0 -
Contact trading standardsNothing to see here, move along.0

Surely the interior of the car would have had clues to the car's real mileage, e.g worn/saggy drivers seat, a shiny steering wheel rim or gear konob, etc???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Come on! What did the MOT history say about the mileage! Was it checked?0

Lower mileage cars have a more worn interior anyway asd they get mauled about.
Anyway, i'm still waiting to hear what evidence there is to say its been clocked... apart from someone on the yard...0 -
I checked the MOT history. It had an MOT in 2006 and the clock read 86k miles. Also, on the last 2009 MOT, it has a huge list of things such as 'disk pad failure' 'shock faults'... but it passed the MOT, so I'm guessing it's been fixed.0

So the car has done 130,000 miles then, so you have been deliberately misled. Either go back or ring trading standards.
