Thanks for the replies
I had to make a quick decision yesterday as I only discovered it just before I posted here and unfortunately due to guests arriving had to go shopping straight away. I took the butter and bit a plastic back to the store and CS gave me a refund (not really the point) but said it would be sent away and I should hear something. I should have got a ref number or something so that I can chase it up. I'm not looking for compensation or anything but just want them to be aware and check if there is a bigger problem in manufacturing.
ETA I think trading standards is probably a better way to go about it - independent if you like but like I said , I just didn't have time to go down that route.0 -
My thought exactly, they eat all those insects on I'm a celebrity, I'm sure a little maggot or caterpillar won't hurt.
Did you have to quote it again though - it was stomach churning enough the first time
Tbh insects and the such don't bother me too much - the odd one will get through and fruit and veg do attract insects (even those sprayed with insecticides - that just has dead insects on them), even the snake could have been taken in with the harvest if its all done by machine.... but the fingers/pieces of plastic  Those I'd be worried about.

It's not as bad as a maggot or snakes head but I have just found bits of clear/white plastic/glass stuff in the middle of Tesco Finest butter  What would be the best way of complaining about this? Take it back to the store or are there any procedures to follow? TIA
Hello if this is the finest "french" butter it is not plastic but salt crystals perfectlf safe to eat :T"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0
