The vendor says it is mechanically sound but the bodywork is a bit marked. We aren't too bothered about looks if it is reliable.
A bit?:rotfl:
I wonder what the other side looks like?
Interesting name the dealer has, Vehicle Funding Solutions Ltd.
Could be a decent runabout and cheap enough to throw away when something goes wrong.0 -
I'd rather have Chlamydia than a Rover...0

Why does the bonnet appear to be open at the side and not the front?
Has it been crashed & repaired cheaply?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Its an unpopular car in a bad colour that is way overpriced. Spend your money wisely elsewhere.0

I'd stick with the 3 types of car you were thinking about originally. Reliable and Rover dont go together at this age. It also looks like a bit of a wreck with misaligned panels and a big dent in the front bumper.0

Probably not unconnected with the big dent in the front.0 -
Thanks for all the replies.
I went to see it this morning.
The guys selling it seem ok. They are a leasing company with rented/leased premises locally so that perhaps offers a bit more confidence and security than a private seller does. They do offer a warranty although how sound that might be could be debateable.
The car looks about what I expected. The bodywork is ok. Apart from a damaged drivers door mirror, the front bumper area dent and a misaligned bonnet panel, it looks good for its age. It clearly has had a bump at the front but there is nothing to suggest anything particularly serious.
The engine looks ok, no dirtier than I would expect for a 13 year old car.
It drives smoothly with no obvious problems. The air con doesn’t appear to work; maybe it just needs regassing; maybe something more major. The tyres are new with decent wheels. It is clean inside with no more wear than is to be expected for the mileage.
Overall I think it is genuine in terms of mileage etc. I just need to be satisfied that it is mechanically sound and the engine has plenty of life in it.
I’m going to take a more knowledgeable friend along to give it a more thorough check and maybe offer £450 and negotiate from there.
It is better than anything else I have seen for similar money although I haven't been looking for long.0 -
its a px so put the size 12s on be brave and start at £250 if you really want it0

with all the problems you have described, i would say it's worth 250 quid at the most, the damage it has, would write the car off.
i personaly wouldn't pay more than 100 quid scrap value for it0
