  • My credit card has been paid off in full today :D I've just made an online payment of £235 and the debt has now been cleared in full. I will be writing to them early next week to close the card permanently

More good news! I've picked up an extra £400 this month due to the way my National Insurance is worked out (I only pay 1% NI after I have gone over the upper limit for the rest of the tax year  )

Therefore, I've just rang the bank and reduced my overdraft by £500 :j

We've also got another 8 items listed on ebay and a further 7 items sold this week!

I'm feeling pretty chuffed at the moment :rotfl:

Another batch of ebay sales so I've rung up the bank to reduce my overdraft by another £200 :j

Just seen your post rusty, I did 3 mile in 29mins 24secs which is what I needed to do for Jan-07. My running goal for Feb-07 was below 29mins but I'm ashamed to say I haven't run another 3 mile yet :o

Back in Nov-05 I was down to 22mins 6secs for 3 mile and felt really healthy but alas, a bit like my finances, it all went t**ts up :rotfl:

I've just rang MBNA up for a settlement figure on my loan and it is £200 less than I thought it was!

On the ebaying front we have a couple of items listed for sale which have bids of nearly £150 with 4 days left to go so this will give us some more cash to throw at the overdraft.

I can't wait for the debts to be below £20k - I think it will give me the morale boost that I'm desperately in need of.

I'm also going to ring up Sky tonight and cancel it - we are on the cheapest package at £15 per month but could quite easily live without it.

  • Hiya John

I only just found your debt diary by following your sig link. This is truly inspiring. I cannot believe how much you have managed to clear.:j

As my sig states I haven't calculated all my debt yet but its around £24k. I think I may take inspiration from you and begin my own diary. Once I finally pluck up the courage to do the calcs.

I am about to start a graduate training scheme to become CIPFA qualified, yes an accountant that yet again has no head for personal finance.;)

You have really motivated me to make a difference.

    I wish you luck. Continue the hard work:T :T :T :T

Thanks for the reply spend-a-holic. Good luck with your CIPFA. It's a hard slog but really worth it in the end. I did CIMA and it's opened up a number of career opportunities.

If only there was a personal finance module

Here is my spending diary for last week. Not one for the faint hearted :o

Wow, just read your thread - you've done so amazingly well.

It really gives confidence to someone like me who has just plucked up the courage to sit down and work out what we owe!

    Hi

I just stunbled across your thread through your sig. You have done so well - blown me away!

A little suggestion though that I noticed (and considering you've given up so much already it really is a little thing!!) but you do have a lot of takeouts and £16 for a pizza each week is a lot. I don't know how old your kids are, but we make pizza quite often, sometimes from scratch, sometimes using the packet mixes and sometimes the value pizza bases you can buy. The kids love it and we save our dough for when they've gone to bed and then have whatever toppings etc and have a feast! Might help reduce the weekly spends...

Are you & OH doing pigsback clicks as well? Well worth it if not. How is your wife going with all the changes? Has she embraced them as much as you?

    Being nosey today!
