There are several reasons why this is a bad idea, Firstly of course buying and then reselling items on the same account is hardly going to help you hide the amount you paid in the first place is it?

Secondly whilst the vast majority of ebay users are perfectly normal, there are the odd few about that you would not want to cross. So you buy something it fails to arrive so you do a paypal chargeback..and that seller gets very angry and does a bit of auction wrecking. Even on threads on here when someone has had real issues with a buyer there are some people who will automatically suggest buying something from them (preferbaly using a different buying account) and giving them a taste of their own medicine. Whilst people think it is acceptable to do that I would prefer to keep my selling account away from them.

I run several accounts, all for different purposes

ahh, i see, worth considering definatey. i've never had such problems with a seller and i don't buy alot on ebay so my sales always hughely outweigh my purchases but i supose it only takes one nutter...maybe i'll open a buying account aswell then........

I think that post referred to the Original one, buying to resell would of course be considered a business by HMRC.

I don't specifically buy to resell but often end up reselling things I've bought on eBay as I'm fickle and get bored easily! I concentrate on clothing because I know quite a bit about it and that knowledge comes across in auctions.

A detailed, persuasive description works wonders for a listing, as do clear photos and lots of them. With clothing, I find if you can show how it fits (either on a dummy or a model) that helps too.

Also i don’t have to pay import duty as they ship to a unit in UK and re-send to me so im getting a bargains now.

Sorry I don't understand this. If VAT and duty is payable it should be paid by whoever receives the shipment in the UK. Getting it delivered to another address and then forwarded to you would make no difference

I have been to China, and most of the stuff they sell there is tat anyway so I dont know why you would want to buy from there to import it here and sell on ebay. However I think that Wholesales for buying and selling using eBay is my future...

Hmmm.....half the stuff you buy already in your home is probably from China. Have you checked your TV, Fridge, Camera, etc recently?

yes and its not me that receives it, so i don’t pay the duty...

i don’t have it forwarded to another address, the suppler does then they re-send the item to me from a UK address so i don’t pay the duty, they do.
