Cancelling O2 Contract after 12 months

They say i have to write a letter to them with a signature. I've taken a look at other similar posts, and people seem to be able to cancel their contracts over the phone..

am i being duped?

I would suggest writing a letter and then sending it by recorded delivery so that you both should have physical evidence to terminate your contract/account. Also it states in the T&Cs that if you want to cancel, you should put it in writing anyway.

An all too common and most irritating ploy to make cancellation as awkward as possible in the hope that the customer will not bother. Amazing how they can all happily accept your business without any signature but always seem to need one when you want to cancel. GRRRRR!
  • I spoke to someone in retentions on wednesday who told me I could cancel over the phone there and then and that they don't need written confirmation. It does seem to depend on who you get to speak to and what mood they are in though!
  • O2 wouldn't give me a K800i for less than £80. Is there any tips to get them to give me it for free?

Yep that happened to me. My 12 moths was up and I wanted to cancel. They said to send a letter and they need 30 days notice. I couldnt be bothered so I renewed instead. I might send a letter 30 days before the end of this contract though :-)

if you want to cancel, ask for the PAC code, when you transfer your number to another network it will auto cancel the contract, so you dont have to write a letter to them.

im due an upgrade, and want the N73, i hear its out on the 16th Aug, so am waiting till then, if they dont offer me a good deal, i am off!
