Naughty Word Blocker (merged)

Come on now. Whoever has written naive routines to censor what is written on here has surely heard of a town in Lincolnshire called S****horpe - the asterisks are not mine!!
And a **** is a male hen, you know. And when you do things wrong you make a **** up - that is a c-o-c-k up, not a somethingelse-up, which could indeed be unacceptable language.
This is the silliness I have discovered so far, but I'm sure there are other examples. Are the site operators really so worried about depravity that they have to over-react in this way? In the latter case, I can imagine that people presumed I was using, or implying, the f-word. I was doing neither.
If you have to censor people's postings, you should at least warn them about it when it happens.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
gromituk - just merged your thread straight into this one
my personaly fav is walle****ch0 -
Thanks for that - sorry I didn't spot the other one.
Where does this list come from? The US? In this country, c-o-c-k is usually not a rude word. And blocking only full words wouldn't solve that one.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Gromit - before you jump in with both feet to criticise those who have "written naive routines to censor what is written on here" , you would do well to learn a little bit about vBulletin Administration functions and the limitations of the supplied word blocker, or at least to read the copy of the instructions provided above. The vBulletin software that these boards run on has its limitations, such as not having the functionality to allow Administrators the luxury of " If you have to censor people's postings, you should at least warn them about it when it happens."
Of course, I am sure you could come up with the code to add the functionality you require???0 -

Hmm - having previewed that, it only got one of them
"I went to S****horpe to watch Alladin and Widow T****y, and couldn't stop s******ing all the way through..."
Silly blockers.
reading through this thread, I made a connection.
You clearly need good Penistone to become a clithero!
(Spelling mistake is deliberate in this case).Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.0 -
My cousin (hello Sue) lives in Penistone and has a photo of the Post office after someone nicked the T out of the name (no not the word post).Keep Smiling

I know I've posted this before, but it cracks me up. On the Marks and Spencer jan sales thread there was a blouse called the !!!!!bow, which of course you could never post without asterisks. It would never OCCURRED to me to think of it in those terms! Scunthorpe and Weightwatchers were my favourites though.
The new smilies are cute, BTW. :j
You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again. *weightwatchers*A penny saved is a penny gained0
