Just a quick update - I went back to the original dealer, as suggested and explained everything - just had the following back:

my area rep is on the case. I think you should get sorted soon. The delaer you took it too didn't even put a claim in for indicators just presumed they wouldn't be under warranty and the electrical fault shouldn't be chargable.

Will keep in touch although Sachs will probably contact the dealer direct.

so he didn't even ATTEMPT to repair it under warranty - even though he told me on numerous occasions that he was waiting to hear the outcome of the claim?!

I'm so angry. I don't really know what to do from here - whether to wait it out and see what happens, or what. He has my bike!!
  • Try to stay calm. Get your dealer to sort out the repairs quickly, smile sweetly and say thank you to the guy you are annoyed with when you get it back.

You could well end up needing to use the guy again at some point in the future, as bike mechanics are rarer than car ones. It's best not to get angry with him as well.

Hope you're back on the road soon.

Hi there, I have been looking to buy a Sachs Madass my self and I also live in Brighton so I was going to contact the dealer In Eastbourn. I am so glad I stumbled across your thread as they dont seem reliable at all. I was just wondering if everything worked out in the end with your repairs and was it the dealer in Kent that did it? What do you think of the bike? I might look for a second hand one if I cant get it from a descent dealer.

    Thanks again,
    Kat

I would have thought the original post would have been enough to put you off that or any other Chinese bike. They're cheap for a reason.

Sachs are a respected brand, please don't confuse them with the chinese copies.

They are German and often associated with Cagiva & Ducati when it comes to importing to this country.

The problem is finding people to work on them, but remember no one is only a Sachs main dealer, they always have a bigger brand, but checking sachs website it does seem eastbourne is your closest by about 20 miles.

The Sachs Madass is made in China and has been for some time.

Almost 2K for a scooter isnt that cheap and I have had heard some really good reviews about them. Things will always go wrong which I understand but the dealer in Eastbourn sounds like they are messing people around and are only Interested in charging for things covered under the warranty. Will do some more research I am just glad I saw this thread before I used them. Thanks for your replies guys! :)

Sachs Madass has always been made in China. The point I made is you cannot class a chinese built Sachs the same a chinese copy of a bike. As both Honda & Vespa have also outsourced to china would you say they are a no no?

Sachs is a good manufacturer and has been around for a century, they may build this model in china, but to german spec & design.

This is a good vehicle, crossing the divide between twist and go peds and geared bikes. Would certainly consider it if I was in the market for a wee runaround, though wish they would offer a more powerful version.
