The difference between 175/65/14 and 195/50/15 is 60 speedo = 59.3 actual
The difference between 185/55/15 and 195/50/15 is 60 speedo = 59.1 actual.

As the car will usually be set up for the 14's and the (in)accuracy of the speedo the difference is not worth worrying about.0 -
The only other thing with mixing is if I ever need the spare then I could potentially have mixed tyres on the same axel.
National Tyres quote is £165.50 for the Conti's with fitting. So there is a substantial saving using blackcircles @ £132.08.
Re tyre rotation: Will this mean the fitter has to remove all tyres and retain the wheels positions or will they simply move the back wheels forward? Will this cost extra? I've checked and is not included in the BC price.0 -

they justy move the rears to the front
usually no cost but they could charge0 -
I have now checked KwikFit who can do Pirelli Cinturato P6 or Pirelli P6000's for the same price as the Conti's from blackcircles. Any thoughts?0

This is why you fit the NEW tyres to the REAR
As for difference in the 'performance' in brands, you'll always get lots of different views, as with most things.
But on the websites you're looking at, many will list them as 'budget' or 'premium' choices. So stick to names you've heard of, rather than an unknown make & you'll be OK.
However, you might need to consider if you want the bother of buying on line, then going to a seperate tyre bay to fit them - why not just call the fitters & get them to price, or recommend what they have?
Also http://www.justtyres.co.uk will have downloadable vouchers, as do http://www.f1autocentres.co.uk/ BOTH will do deals & pricematch & both have good 'extra' guarantees on the tyres.

My penneth....
Go for quality and a brand - we bought a Corolla Verso for the school runs, Dunlop SPs on the back but some unheard of brand on the front. The dealership thought it had done me a favour as the old tyres on the fronts had been near to the limit. Handling in the wet, particularly on roundabouts and bends was a nightmare - took the plunge and replaced the nearly new unknown brands with Dunlop SPs and the handling problem disappeared - it was a different car really. Cost me about £180 (thereabouts) for the 2 but it was £180 I've never looked back at.
I usually look online at etyres and others to get a feel for the price and then phone a couple of local fitters - Kwik fit and National are usually worth a giggle. In my experience, they aim high but offer to match - I simply say, forget it. The best prices I find are from the small family run mobile businesses - they come to you at a time to suit. I've recommended loads of friends and colleagues and all have been happy.0 -
I have discounted the Perilli's from KwikFit due to many bad reviews. I think it will be the Conti's from blackcircles and hope HiQ don't charge to rotate.0

i used to get my local tyre place to price match the online sellers
they could often get near and sometimes better if you dont include the fitting in the online price you quote to them

Will try this. Is it a bad idea to see if HiQ will match? If they won't then I will take the BC quote but it will be HiQ fitting!0 -

Just seen that you're in Cheshire (didn't realise) - if you're near Warrington, try express tyres (www.expresstyres.co.uk). You can get a quote online, or give them a call. These are the ones I referred to in my post (apols if I've broken forum rules, I'm not in anyway affiliated with these, they just offer me excellent service and price).0
