How to cancel AOL Broadband!!!

I wish to cancel my AOL Broadband Service.
I haven’t used the Broadband service in nearly two years and I’m still paying for it via Direct Debit.
I don’t want to transfer the service to another provider just yet…….as I need to look into what ISP’s are providing good deals.
I just want to stop wasting money.
Does anyone have any advice about this ?
I’ve read a few horror stories about Cancelling AOL on the MSE forum and I've decided to keep everything in writing.....in order to keep a communication trail.
I am going write a letter to the AOL Cancellation Department as opposed to phoning them up ......thus prevent being passed around from pillar to post.
Please advise!!

Just ring them and ask for a MAC code. They'll make you some sort of offer and try to persuade you to stay but if you say you have made your decision there's nothing they can do unless you are under contract, which it looks like you are not.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0

Do they have a freephone number?0

Are you aware that if you cancel rather than transfer, you will pay a cease charge? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I've got the freephone number now!!!
Really!!!............How much?
How does that work?............
Shall I find another ISP ........and transfer as opposed to cancelling?0 -
I've got to agree with JoJoB - it'll be a lot easier on you to choose another provider to move to and just request a MAC code. Which other ISPs are available to you?
Are you sure you want to move at all given that you've spent hundreds of pounds on a service you haven't been using for the past two years?
By the way, you should be able to manage this on your online account if you're having trouble getting through on the phone.0 -
