Everytime Tescos move into another area the existing people in that field get shafted whether its opticians or petrol stations, when will enough be enough?
When we change the name of the country to Tescoland and all have to wear a blue uniform?
I wont give these sharks a penny of my money and certainly wouldn't work for them.
Boycott Tescos while you still can.0 -

I agree, but when it comes down to it we only have ourselves to blame. If we didn't shop there then they wouldn't get so big. It's alright saying boycott them (which I do, incidentally) but I bet that you just use one of the other major supermarkets instead (as I do
) instead of using small independent's, farmers markets etc. 0 -
Whilst your comment might seem slightly provocative,i do think there is now a greater need for gated communities in the UK where all residents subscribe to a set of agreed rules. This would suit me fine as i am sick and tired of suffering the excesses of others who clearly are very selfish and dont give a f%%k about anyone else but themselves.The_White_Horse wrote: »its just a shame they will be made to house scum in the villages. in the US i lived in a gated village. it was fantastic. no scum, our own indoor pool, gym, restaurant etc. security at the front.
no scum. the way it should be.
real people shouldn't be made to live near and amongst HA scum.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

I stopped using tescos some time ago - I used to work for them when I was at school) havent bought anything in there for over a year I don't think certainly would never do my main shop there.
I much prefer to shop in waitrose/ocado as its part of the JLpartnership which I think is a "good thing" and also the sourcing of their products is more ethical. Failing that I tend to choose morrisons as so much of it is british as opposed to our mates at tesco where almost everything in the F&V aisle has a sticker with a plane on .
Totally take your point about independents- always best to support them.
You have to pick and choose tho when trying to be an ethical shopper
I cant believe how we as a country allow ourselves to get dominated by these companies??? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have to admit, I have found myself in Tesco more often than I would like in the last few months.0

Seeing as there is a little giant corporate conglomerate bashing going on Lovely jubbly!), I thought it was interesting looking at how the supermarkets are making significant profits in their condoning of the occupation of palestine:High street supermarkets are profiting from Israel's occupation of
Palestine by selling produce from Israeli settlements. Under
international law, Israel's settlements in the West Bank and East
Jerusalem are illegal. By selling settlement produce, supermarkets are
complicit in their illegal activity and profiting from Palestinian
suffering.
Act now to tell the CEOs of Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and
Asda to stop selling settlement produce in their stores - go to this
link and write to the CEO's :

Faulty sat-nav methinks

I wish, easier than saying dodgy moral compass.
I'm quite a long way from a serious town, but a newish tesco retail park has things that I need. Plus, parking is free and plentiful, and petrol cheaper than th other local independent alternatives. But the service is not great. eg a few weeks ago I needed help with DH's tyres as was babying my back, so went to the nearest petrol station. dh's petrol gauge is faulty so I presumed we'd need fuel too, but in all the bill totalled £3.17. I had a tenner, and a switch card. The forecourt staff told me to come back with the right change sometime during the next week...can you imagine that at Tesco?0 -

I went there around Christmas, but the store failed my world foods test, (i.e. didn't have some of the more esoteric items I wanted) so I walked out.
Haven't been back & can't imagine why I should. Even the large Asda I sometimes visit has some decent Indian condiments.
As for fuel, my local garage, which is a Nisa, is usually as cheap, or cheaper. Speed isn't up to much, mind. In fact, one pump has a sign saying 'Please be patient with this pump!'
