  • its just a shame they will be made to house scum in the villages. in the US i lived in a gated village. it was fantastic. no scum, our own indoor pool, gym, restaurant etc. security at the front.

no scum. the way it should be.

real people shouldn't be made to live near and amongst HA scum.

I'm surprised you came back if it was so fantastic.
  • It does`nt sound like any where I would like to live. Every town will truly end up looking the same, with all the same shops, or just one big shop.

So many of our towns already do. You can thank 'planners' and architects (aka vandals) for that.

I have been banging on about this since I first heard about the broml;ey by bow development.

Yes again we have the lovely pfi in fullswing here as schools, drs surgery and so on will be "provided" by tesco and they like pretty much every PFI building "scheme" we the taxpayer rent the building from them, they have us over a barrel, ramping up the rent YOY. Think about that when you pay your council tax and your services are being cut to provide a nice profit to Tescos. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23756241-tesco-town-planned-next-to-2012-site.do

i'd like to know more about the fine print. i'm pretty sure the layout of the bromley by bow one features the supermarket in the middle ('cathedral' like) and other shops are squeezed out - basically creating a captured market of tesco customers. this seems like one for the monopolies and mergers commission for me. a single company with vested interests should not have such an influence on town planning.

Are you familiar with bromley by bow, that used to be my local supermarket a few years ago when I lived around there ( this is when I stopped shopping in tescos!!place is FILTHY)

There isnt a lot of retail around there there will be a removal of some of 3 mills an the rest is industrial so that will all be buldozed to make a load of poxy flats.

Im expecting to see that the people on TH council all recieved bungs for this and some will probably go to prison yet the development will still go ahead.

    Cant you just see it!!!

i hope they keep the 3 mills studios. surely that's a listed building? i know this area because i've filmed there a few times. OH also works around that way.

to think it was a genuine village only a few decades ago! sylvia pankhurst launched the suffragette movement from the village green in 1913.

Frankly this idea is hardly much removed from the current situation where supermarkets offer to build housing or community facilities as part of a new store development proposal.

Sometimes it's even insisted upon by the planning authority concerned.
