Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning

Hi Folks. Warm day in store here. I have the day off so it will be boat day. I need to finish the sanding and then go buy some paint. Once I get it painted I can rebuild and think about fishing again....

Great lunch at a friends yesterday and then afterwards the local election forum. Labour did not show up! The candidate thought it was next Sunday. I guess not showing up was about right as they would have no chance of winning here anyway. My friend and I resorted to heckling in the end as we were just hearing waffle..... Lib Dems real waffle, Greens real off the wall stuff. Mebyon Kernow Sound UKIP passionate Conservative Probably won the day for doing the home work and honest Cornish candidate... We shall see....

Packed lunches to do and see if I can get my son out of bed today, he has had real bad flu and not done much since Wed, trouble is he has A level stuff to hand in, so really needs to get going if he can....

Well folks nothing much else here.... cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Morning N9eav & all to follow.

Another beautiful day here. Will get the washing on in a mo.

Todays plans may change, DS needs new boxing wraps for tonight. OH is working today and may be delivering near there so will pick them up but if not I need to go to Harold Hill this morning. This afternoon I hope to pick up a lorry that has been repaired (fingers crossed)

Yesterday I cleared the ironing mountain :j:j:j so aim this week to keep this up to date, also to get my office work up straight.

Will be a very easy tea tonight probably some tuna pasta salad as need to head out to boxing. Will try and get the weeks menu plan done at some point today.

Nothing else OS to report :o so will get off, have a great day.x
  • Morning lovely OS-ers!
LadyGrim - hugs.gif Hope you are managing honey.. you know where we are if you need us.
Cranky - Thinking of you and the house elf.
JackieG - How is your back hon? Take care and rest a bit please. As for me, well, my back hurts like mad when I lie or sit upright in bed but when I lie on my side I get such bad heartburn I am likely to be ill, so my sleeping involves naps of an hour or so only.
Hester - that made me wince!giggle.gif
Lindy - Glad your niece is home now.
celyn - So pleased your ex BIL got the sentence he deserved and also very happy for you that your partner is finally divorced!
meanmarie - I would like to know what sook actually means too, as I have always thought it was an affectionate word for someone a bit soppy.. but in a nice way.
Enjoyed the London Marathon yesterday and think I might just have spotted my friend in one or two shots of the amateurs though it might have been wishful thinking.
I am more of a fraud than ever posting on here when I can't really eat right now which means my OS-iness is very little. (hence my not starting the thread today... :rotfl:even I noticed lack of OS in my post) I'm ringing the Dr and the hospital clinical nurse today to try and get the medication I need to control this nausea.
Anyway, I hope everyone's week starts well. With love, light and warm gentle HShuggies.gif to anyone who wants one.

    Morning Peeps

bright and dry so far this morning, we had some enormous downpours yesterday so the garden has had a good soaking, it really needed it so i`m not complaining. No washing to do today as there wasn`t enough for a full load, the only thing that i`ve done this morning is turn on the dish washer that i loaded last night :D

Today is mostly w*rk, when i get home i need to make a few phone calls and then i shall zone out on the sofa for an hour, DH will be home with the houndies tonights so the usual chaos will be back :D
Celyn - Great to read your post yesterday, fantastic news times two :j

    Ladygrim - ((((HUGS))))

    Good morning :D

It's cloudy here so far but it's meant to stay dry so I'll peg out anyway. Yesterday was a wash out with rain all day but the gardens must have been glad of it.

I'm all sorted for my first 'official' day with lunch already made and in the fridge - ham, cheese & sweet chilli sauce sandwich, yoghurt and a slice of weetabix cake. Tea tonight is omlettes with salad and garlic bread for the boys who need the extra's :rotfl: I'll also serve up some fruit and ice cream for pudding for anyone who wants it.

I gave the house a good going over yesterday so nothing to do tonight except to watch Glee :T to which DS2, DS3 and I are addicted!

Celyn Really pleased to read both bits of your good news yesterday :)

Diva Hope that you get sorted with the right meds today xx

I have to peg the washing out and get dressed now so I shall wish everyone a good day and move myself! xxx

    Morning all,

Looks like another bright day here, although we are meant to be having showers. Busy day planned today, I need to shove two loads of washing on, and get them on the line

The wood work in the utility and loo needs a rub down, and painting over, OH boxed the pipes in for me, and built me a shelving unit on saturday, so we are almost there :T.

I also need to have a clean through and do an online shop. Should keep me out of trouble :D.

Yesterday OH cane home from the boot sale with 12 beautiful, hand made italian terracotta pots for the garden :T, they are beautiful, so i need to look out for some plants to go in them.

Yesterday we had just finished dinner, still had the plates in front of us, when my mum turned up with some very good friends, who I have known since birth, we were in a right mess, pots all over the kitchen :o, washing hanging around, must tell her today to phone and give us a warning next time .

Ladygrim, continued hugs to you xxx

    Celyn, brilliant news xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning All

Diva I'm sure we'd all rather see a non-OS post than no post at all! Hope you feel a little stronger today.

Redruby I can't stand it when people just turn up! But I hate to turn up on people without ringing first too

Very little OS today - DS-S has sorted her washing from camp so I'll put that in before I go out to work and I need to check the meal plan as to what's for dinner as I really can't remember! Although I have 3 MS jobs at a frozen food shop today so I could end up buying something random and doing that for dinner as I've no room in the freezer!

First day back at work today. Bit nervous - only in half day so should be ok. I have new clothes and new hair do and have to go in looking like I've been sick for a month :rotfl:I probably look better than I have in ages !!

Anyway need to straighten my hair (get me! - I've barely had a brush threw it in ages :D) and make DS1's flask of tea

    Have a good day x

Morning all - wasn't it lovely (for the garden) to see the rain yesterday. Apparently we're going to see temps into the mid 20s by Wednesday - and then the weather is going to go rapidly downhill - so any gardening I must do today or tomorrow. The children are in school / nursery today and tomorrow, so I must get my painting (of walls) done this morning. I also need to unload the car from our trip yesterday - and by the looks of it, the lawn desperately needs a haircut and the sides need trimming too.

Then I need to do the weekly dive into the freezer to see what I can salvage for this weeks menus. Why is it I can only think straight after the first two cups of coffee - perhaps its because the children are safely delivered to school by then! It is lovely to see the leaves on the trees coming out and the blossom on them too.

Postal voting forms have arrived, so I really must pay attention to what the parties are saying and then vote. Oh and the hounds need a run - not to mention me - thats my Monday sorted by the looks of things then!

Have a great day - and HUGS for all who need them xxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Hi everyone,

I've not posted for a while, so I need to send my condolences toLadygrim.

Diva, I hope you get your medication sorted out - acid reflux is such a miserable thing to suffer from (I've had it since my pregnancy with DD when I was sick so much I was left with a hiatus hernia).

I managed to do some much needed sorting out at the weekend and the last spare bedroom is now finished, apart from the new window which comes this week. We bought the new curtains yesterday. I hurt my back somehow though which is very frustrating.

I've got a meeting tonight so not much OS going on. I hope it won't go on too long but it's a public meeting so you never know what questions people are going to ask.

    Have a good day everyone.
