I am currently in USA and trying to text home.
For some reason my mobile has stopped sending text.
Its a 3g phone and normally works from here

I tried to find a free sms provider through google but dont know which ones to trust.
One said in its small print that its free to send but recipient pays £3
Another says its advertising supported.
I don't want my friends bombarded with ads or ripped off with unexpected and outrageous fees

Can anyone recommend one which is tried and tested and 100% free?

Thanks

  • Cardboard Fish is probably the best. It doesn't charge the recepient, and promises never to spam/sell your number. Ther earn money by adverts on their webpage, and by putting 'free sms at cbfsms.com' at the end of your text. Link.

you can use the web, skype if your friends are with 3 network in the uk, they can access skype for free on their phones (and home).

or try using the web only version of yahoo messenger, you dont have to download software, uou just need a yahoo account and message via web version of yahoo messenger, many mobile handsets get messengers free so they can access the messages on phones. there are free versions and i have used them but i cant recall the name now. if i remember then will update here.
