Its a soap base u can buy and you can add oils and butters to. i find normal soap very drying for my skin so i buy the base and make my own.
  • thanks for that, i am soooooooo loving this thread and the sub£5 one.i used to be a beauty snob and can't believe how much money i have wasted. i am resoved for the rest of 2010 not to buy anything else off that well known shopping channel(don't know if we're allowed to say it or not)

going to investigate soap base now,bye for now.

I was considering buying it, pity it has Sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate, which are not good for my sensitive skin.

Anyone knows a formula that is suitable for sensitive skin?

There is some confusion over yellow shea.
Some say there is the addition of unrefined palm oil, I have been told that it is the addition of a root of a plant. I will however get to the bottom of this and report back when I return from Ghana.

Ok, I am back from my working trip and have already "documented" yellow shea on YouTube. I can't post links so please look for SheabutterCottageHQ channel

I will soon be editing one for the shea process itself.

Has anyone tried emulifying SB, with cornflour or anything else, to give a more creamy (less oily) feel?

    Cheers

    Hi Lesley,
I would imagine this would make the butter 'chalky' and leave a residue on the skin or hair. I use it on both, but in v small amounts.
