    Seconded - damp cloth or cleaning wipe, wet the surface, leave it to soak in for a while, wipe/scrape the spots with thumbnail or cloth over thumbnail, etc.

    Next time, get your painter to put dustsheets down!

    If you've got paint on the hob, you've probably got paint in other places too - time to go over the kitchen with a fine toothcomb, and clean them all up.....

    this scrathches the polished look of most stainless steel units...sorry Ormus,,,,

    lots of water and some paper towels and elbow grease....

    also for really stubborn bits try using a little nail varnish remover on a cotton bud.....but try this in a non visible place first!!!

    thank you all. before i posted i was using the thumbnail technique but it was just taking too long so thouhgt would get better ideas
