MFI Help

Hi All, I have had a quote from MFI for some wardrobes. They come to £1300 but the guy said he could discount it to about £1000. My question is does anyone know the bottom line on MFI as I'm sure they can do better than knocking £300 off? Their markups must be huge as they have always got a sale on?? I just want to know how far I can push for a discount?? Thank you

Do you know anyone in 'the trade' so to speak? I use Howdens for everything, but its trade only, but you if you ahve a friend/relative who would let you use their account I'd recommend going there. I got my kitchen from them, I went to B&Q, MFI, Directkitchens, Dilusso first and their quotes were all around £3,000-4,500 (without appliances, it is a very big kitchen and that includes shelves, lights, etc).
Got the same from Howdens at £1,200.
Just had my quote for fitted bedrooms and its £400 per room (and thats the first quote- I'll have that down to £320-350 by 5pm!)
They have real wood flooring (that dead dear stuff) for £35 a box containing 2.21 sq metre.0 -
Thanks for the tip, it sounds fantastic but I wouldn't know anyone who was in the trade. Its interesting that after looking on the website it says they are part of MFI, just emphasis's even more how much prices get inflated by!!0

I didn't know that! Well there's your answer regarding profit margins!
Not sure how you set up a trade account (what proof you might need?) You could see if you can pretend to be a property developer and say your company is called ***** just say your a one man band outfit! If you're saving £500+ it may be worthwhile!0 -

They will normally want a letter head and will probably credit check the company. I'll ask my builder, who's here at the moment - but up on the roof :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

What range wardrobes is it? is that £1300 after taking the VAT off?0

Your builder may already have an account, also check friends whose husbands/partners are in the trade. What County are you in?0

The range is the Thurlestone and £1300 is after taking off the VAT. He said he could take it down to about £1000 but I think they could do even better than that!
I don't have a builder? I'm in Derbyshire.0 -
Sorry meant DebtFreeChick asking her builder! But everyone must know a joiner, be it a second cousin or brother in law or something who could get an account. t might seem like a load of farting about, but if you're saving £1000+ on a kitchen and £600 on fitted wardrobes its got to be worth it!0

Howdens only do kitchens..so Howdens is no good..£1000 cash price is excellent..you have got a massive markdown..normally that sort of dicount is offered to people who are taking up payment options.
If you can get it for £1k I would personally go for it.0
