Find own number on htc desire

sorry to be dim but is there any way to find your own number on the desire ,yes i know i can ring home phone to know my number but i like to be able to know where it is on the phone so when someone asks me for my number i can find it.

From the main screen;

MENU
SETTINGS
ABOUT PHONE
PHONE IDENTITY

When you've found out your number, add it to your contact card on PEOPLE on the main page. Then you can send it to someone via text message if they ask for it.

no need to remember your number or even to sms. you can just "Bump" your phone to another phone and contact details are automatically sent if the other phone has 'bump' software too. (you can swap contact details, photos or even money as per your settings / software)

Interesting thing I found so far is that if you PAC your number in from a different network this doesn't seem to update automatically ... so, for me, it displays the original SIM number but actually it is really a different number....
