Inspiration for keeping 2 and 6 year old busy on 4 hour flight

Hi all,
I know we are all full of ideas on this board, so hoping for some good suggestions.
I have a studious little 6 year old boy and with him is his riotous 2 year old sister.
If I was just flying with my son I would have no trouble, but naturally his sister wants to do what he is doing and they end up fighting because it is too difficult for her. Any ideas on activities I can do for both on them for our flight journey.
I have about three hours to fill all in all after meals etc. I don't see them settling for a film if we get one. The tv screens are often too high up and they are too low down to enjoy it.
My son bless him is happy to do things at her level. But after a quick scribble and a brief read of a book I am stuck!
Any inspiration I would be most grateful
thanks

Those wipe clean drawing boards are good - no mess and the "pen" is attached by a string. Asda sell them quite cheaply. I'd stock up on comics and stickers too, they're not so cheap but could pass an hour or two. Try a charity shop for travel puzzles.

Which airline are you flying with? Where to? And will you be the only adult flying?
This may help people give you more appropriate answers

Make up a back pack each with new colouring books, pencils, story books etc. Maybe some small toys like cars or something. You don't have to spend a lot - try supermarkets and stores like Home Bargains, Wilkinsons etc. Or even have a look for stuff in the back of cupboards that they have forgotten about!
As everything is new, it'll keep them more interested than taking stuff they already play with.
My daughter has one of these which we are taking away. A relative bought it for Christmas for her. http://www.elc.co.uk/toy/pink-super-scribbler/Here I go again on my own....0 -

It is a TUi flight so pack them in tight, loads of kids. Will be travelling with my husband, we are on a three and a one seating formation. So plan is for us to keep swapping. Might even put my six year old across the aisle to give him a break at times.0 -
Hi, we take our portable DVD player and a couple of favourite films/cartoons which helps pass the time as well as colouring in.

Any chance of a nap time during the flight???
Usual suggestions of books, colouring in, sticker books etc
Wipe clean boards are good and also the mini aquadraw things too. Kids etch a sketch boards and also music can be good especially the "soothing" kind!!0 -

I am hopeful, but unlikely. She only sleeps well in her cot, and the stimulation of a new environment is probably going to keep her going.
What happened with my son at this age is he kept going until the flight landed, and just when you needed him to walk he would have zonked in his seat! I have a feeling the same might happen.0 -
Do the magic bag - if they are good , let them have a lucky dip in a bag you have prepared for them. Put lots of small treats in, like crayons, lollipops, colouring, toy cars, wrapping them up makes it more fun. If they sit nicely for a certain period of time they can dip their hands in and have a treat.
A four hour flight is not too bad, by the time you have had drinks and a meal it will go quite quickly. Make sure you pre-order a kids meal if you haven't already.

Thanks all for your good suggestions. I will take you up on them all!
I love the idea of wrapping them up. That will hopefully help me to bribe them to stay good throughout the flight. One lucky dip every half an hour should hopefully do it!
Thanks again, any more do keep them coming!0 -
Laminated paper is a good option for drawing etc. You can laminate pages out of colouring books or just plain/squared paper. Water soluble pens just wipe off (j-cloth in a plastic bag).
Is there a new toy she's wanting, bringing that out during the flight might give all of you a break LOL
I'm planning to get DS2 a 'BoostApak' (it's launching early May I believe), would something like that be useful when it comes to watching films?Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
