Noisy party - nothing that I can do?

to be honest, why didn't you let environmental health come round and have a listen? they are the ones who have the power to get them to shut up - under statutory nuisance or noise act legislation. i don't see how this would risk your anonymity at this stage.0

Not recommended. These days you will probably either get punched or a torrent of F words. And then if someone else throws a brick through the window you will get the blame because YOU complained to them.
This is broken britain alright.0 -

I agree. I'm sure people still remembers this news - and our street has got worse since 2007....0 -

Read the Sun newspaper by any chance?MiserlyMartin wrote: »Have you tried sleeping with ear plugs? They are not comfortable. Besides it sounds as though the music was so loud the plugs would have made no difference.
WAX ear plugs are comfortable enough to forget you are wearing them: they are also substantially more effective than foam ones.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Admittedly I would be nervous about knocking on someone's door myself...
but having lived in houses and hosted parties in the past (not sure I should admit this here- sorry) and the time someone knocked on our door and asked us to turn the music down we did... Sometimes you don't realise how much noise travels.0 -

Thats becuase i have values and respect for others.
Exactly my point, I keep my TV turned down at all times, my music at a reasonable level, and if I am watching a movie in bed after 10 at night I use headphones, out of respect for my neighbours.
Going round to a house full of drunks at 1 in the morning and complaining in todays feral society, as one of the other posters put it, is just asking for a stab wound.
Calling the police is pointless unless you see one of them doing 32mph in his car down your street, then the flying squad will appear with their speed cameras

Pardon, I didn't catch that?0 -
I don't think the occasional party till the small hours is that unreasonable but it shouldn't be on a regular basis.
Trying to reason with people while they are drunk is never a good idea, maybe get together with a few neighbours (if it is a regular event) and approach them, calmly, whilst they are sober.
There is also the thing (I understand) about having to declare any issue you have had with neighbours when it comes to selling the house.0
