In the letter you recieved saying that you've been awarded ESA, did it say that you are in the assessment phase recieving £64.50 per week?
If this is the case you will recieve a form ESA50 (I think it's called) which is similar to the DLA forms, basically going into more detail about your condition. When they recieve this they will either decide that there is enough information in the form to put you into an ESA group, or ask you to attend a work capability assessment (medical). At the WCA they will assess what you are capable of, then either put you in the support group (severe disability), the work related activity group (this is interviews with a personal adviser regarding what can be done to get you back into work), or say that you are fit for work.

You either get put in the support group, work related group or told you're fit for work. With the support group, you don't have to attend any interviews or do anything like that - with the work related group, you have to attend 6 interviews.Sealed pot challenge #232.
