How Much JSA Should I Be Getting????

not true, you can sign on wherever you like (as long as they have signing facilities in that jobcentre)
Are you sure? Two Jobcentres have told me you cannot, it's down to postcode. I'd much prefer to sign on at the one two minutes from my home as it is not in a dodgy area.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I think people on here don't feel that there is any necessity to swear about the Jobcentre staff who after all are only doing a job implemeting the rules that they did not make.
As to the Advisor's age, that is immaterial. It might be your son sitting there one day. Would you like people to talk about him like that?
AFAIK, (andI'm not sure by any means), I think if your wife is not looking for work, not disabled and does not have a child under 7, then you can't claim for her.
(And look at it from another point of view, under those circumstances she is capable of finding work, so the state won't fund what is in effect a lifestyle choice).
However as I say, I may be wrong on this.
I hope you get the help you need.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Yip, positive, my brother lives in St.Andrews in Fife, but because he had always worked in Dundee and was looking for work there he asked if that's where he could sign and it was no problem, totaly different county never mind post code! lol
I used to work for the jobcentre and I know it is possible but they do try and deter people from doing it.
(as long as it's a JSA claim and they do signing at the office you want to use, if you were getting ESA/IS you have to have any appointments in the office they specify)0 -
hello,
dont know if this will help but i think you can make a claim for the family. ie - if i have been told correctly, then if a couple has children, that are under 20 and in full time education then as long as put in to claim jsa IB it normally comes out as a 'family claim' at the £102 something... as because the child is still in full time education your wife will not be required to go in and sign. at least thats what i was told.
i would check to see what type of jsa you are getting and if its jsa C (you can check with the benefit enquiry line then look into claiming jsa ib, normally done as a change of circumstance.... the enquiry line will tell you more.
hth
not any more, this changed some time ago...
from 2008 if your child was over 12 this no longer applied, from October last year if the child was over 10 it no longer applied and from October this year if the child (or youngest child if you have more than 1) is 7 then it no longer applies.0 -
Your probably right i shouldnt tar them all with the same brush, but the one i dealt with certainly is useless, when i phoned up today to check if it was right, they told me he had put me down as having savings over £16000 which meant i was on earnings related JSA, i have now had to fill in a JSA3 form to reclaim and get it back dated.I should of been put on income related JSA.Which is an extra £40 a weekIs there any need for the language?
JCP frontline staff do not make the rules. They certainly do not deserve to be called names just because you do not like where you have to sign on.0 -
CB JSA and IB JSA are the same amount...the extra £40 is if it is a joint claim. If you have savings over £16k you would not get Income based JSA but you may qualify for Contributions based, based on your NI April 07-09. Did you open a single claim or a joint claim as it is that that impacts the amount payable0

It must of been a joint claim as when i was giving them all the details they asked me if i was married, did my wife work/claim any benefits and they asked me if i had savings to which i said no and took up all the bank statements as requested but the boy that dealt with me didnt even look at them. I know they are the same amount but my wife dosent need to sign on for the income based JSA.0
