For the last 20 years I have always bought shampoo and conditioner from the hairdresser due to psoriasis in my scalp. Last weekend I thought to myself lets try a hotel shampoo since I was nearly out of my normal shampoo. To my big surprise no itching or irritation. I still finish with conditioner though since I still got plent left. This will save me save money for the next few months.

I have had psoriasis for the same period of time but it has gone for the first time using a cider vinegar rinse after I shampoo. It has also calmed down my red skin around my hairline which I thought was normal until I noticed it had gone. When visiting mum I used an SLS and paraben free shampoo and conditioner Dr Organic I think it is called from Holland and Barrett and that left me non itchy or flaky either.

Does anyone else have to get metal 'segs' put on the heels of their shoes? I'm not as bad for this now but for years I used to get metal 'segs' (a small metal crescent) put on the heels of my shoes so I wouldn't wear the heel pads down on one edge. I had bought a new pair of shoes for work but the cobblers I normally took them to I wasn't going to be near for a few days. Rather than wear the shoes without segs and risk wearing down the heel pads badly I tapped a metal drawing pin into each heel where the segs would go. This stopped me wearing my heels down and requiring new heel pads as well as segs. You can also use a drawing pin as a quick fix if you lose one of your segs until you can get to a cobblers.

......oh and remember and take the drawing pins out before you take your shoes into the cobblers......otherwise they give you a very strange look! :o

    Yes, me too.

Which brings me to the tip I wanted to share. I use Douwe Egbert coffee jars to store my spices. ( The 200g jars hold about 500g of ground spice.) To label the jars, I was inspired by the tip Amy gives about sticking a dinosaur picture onto her son's lunch box. I used MS Word to print up some nice labels, then stuck them on clean jars and covered them with clear contact paper for a waterproof finish. (Note: they don't go in a dishwasher.) Fancy, matching jars for virtually nothing extra (I buy them on offer).

To get the glue off from the jars' original labels, apply WD40.

That brought back memories, I used to wear down the heels of my shoes too and have segs put in. However, back then Woolworths sold all kinds of items to do home repairs to shoes...and my father used to hammer segs in to shoes at home.

I don't know of any shops that sell all that stuff these days. As money is tight I am sure people would buy it again to save money. Though maybe it's a generational thing and today youngsters/young adults would not consider doing this anymore and would go to the cobblers or just buy some cheap footwear. I must admit I wear trainers all the time unless it's a special occasion.

or sometimes I have noticed Wilkinsons keep them.
