Ive been reading the board and love all the great ideas, so thought I'd add my ideas:
1. Turn the heating off and watch TV in the dark snuggled on the sofa with a duvet
2. Shower by candlelight
3. Nick tea-bags from work
4. Shop at 2am
5. Electricity monitor
6. Dump the hubby and sell the kidsTotal debts at start of 2012: £6000 CC (0% int.)
2012 paid off target: £1700/£1500 :rotfl:
Total debt paid: £1800/£6000 :T0 -

There are 500ml in the bottle
Tracey
I also use it for hand soaps, face wash and .....wait for it.... bubble bath for the kids. Recently discovered DH uses my bubble bath (sneakily) so I need to find a bubblebath bottle thats unisex and decant value stuff in for him to "pinch" :rotfl:1 -

Been using stardrops diluted in a spray bottle with a touch of zaflora for antibacterial disinfecting areas, had no problems mixing these for 2 years and everywhere is spotless.
I also use say no to 0870 for phoning companies, i will use the house phone if calling after 6pm or i use my mobile in the day or when im not at home so its free to ring local numbers within my free minutes.
I buy smartprice in tesco value foods
If making a lasagne/curry/spagbol or anything like this i will make enough for the following week as i do shopping every fortnight, i will cook enough for x2 and freeze half enough per portion away in the freezer for next week-saves on cooking again from scratch (turning the oven on and wasting gas) i just zap in the microwave.
I cook mostly in the slow cooker as costs less (same as running a lightbulb)
I make rice and pasta in the microwave and its perfect everytime, rice i boil kettle before hand cover rice enough by one inch add seasoning if desired in a mixing bowl cover with plate and put on full power for 5-10 mins and leave 5 mins+ after finished this should steam the rice and cook it and youll have perfect fluffy rice, costing you less turning the hob on using gas not sure if the same for electric???
I started shopping every fortnight with a budget of £150 between 2 adults and 1 child 1 cat, i stick to it by menu planning for 2 weeks at a time and shopping online so i dont impulse buy, and i shop via mysupermarket.
i walk ds1 to school and dont use the car.
I turn the heating off at night or turn the thermostat down to 15c and when we get up i turn it up to19c and wear slippers and a cardi.
hot water is put on twice a week for a bath ds1 first then oh and then mesunday nights and wednesday nights.
Always have vinegar in as has many uses
i use a tsp of wash powder in every wash recommended amount is not needed same applys for fab conditioner or use vinegar instead.
mix my foundation with moisturiser it goes futher.
i snap half a dishwasher tablet in every load it lasts twice as long
i use a tea bag and put in a dish and the next time i boil the kettle for a brew i re use it then chuck it as i dont like tea strong, as well as using sweetner instead of sugar lasts longer and is cheaper as well as less calories.
hope this helps a few people.
I do nearly all of these (or versions of). I feel quite pleased with myself reading these threads and nodding in agreement as I read them. Great though to find new ways to save the pennies....always pick up something from OS. Thanks everyone!!! keep 'em coming!:D0 -

Add a squirt of washing up liquid in the powder draw, or directly on the washing if targeting a stain.Gets stuff really clean. Ive squirted for over 3 seconds with no 'over foaming' issues.0

I was given some Moulton Brown hand wash as a pressie - used it then refilled the lovely dispenser with cheapo stuff. DGS asked - can I use it Nannie? - it is only for display in our house. So I told him - just because it has MB on the outside - doesn't meant it is that inside!Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I am saving money everyday when I am preparing my lunch box the night before. One weekend a month I make my own breakfast muffins and then I bring one in every day to work as my midmorning snack. I have also bought a kids flask at Lakelands which I use for my soft fruit and then mix this with plain yoghurt and cinnamon. I don't like ripe fruit and before I used to throw this away so it is saving me money that I can use that fruit for my flask. This way I am also eating more fruit. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Just discovered `Time` dishwasher tablets. They are every bit as good as Finish which I normally buy but at about half the price.
They sell them in Poundstretcher.0
