Wasn’t Nella Last ‘Housewife, 49’ as portrayed on telly by the wonderful Victoria Wood?5
-
Yes, the same although the play of couse couldn't do justice to all the little details included in her written diary.5
-
I’ve got Nella Last’s book. It’s a really good read.

There is a sequel to Nella Lasts war. I think its called Nella Lasts Peace. It continues her diary after WW2.

I also recommend "Nella Last's War". Would love to have more details of her recipes etc.4

I had a good scooch round the charity shops yesterday and got a Nella Last book (after all the talk of her on here). It's a combo book called "The Diaries of Nella Last, Writing in War & Peace"
I'm hoping it's good after all the build-up it's hadI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Grab some chocolate, a cup of tea and settle down for a good read!3

Strangely I've just acquired this one. It contains new material not included in the War and Peace separate diaries but have noticed it seems also to omit many of her little dodges for stretching and innovating recipes of her own innovation.3

I too enjoyed Nella's last war. My oldest Daughters best friend has a small part in Housewife 49, she later worked with Victoria Wood again in a show in Manchester. She said that she was a lovely lady. She brought M n S cakes to the rehearsals for the show.I have been using Borrowbox from my local library for books recently. I've just been on holiday and read 2 books. One was the new Linda Robson autobiography which was very expensive to buy on kindle, borrowbox is free6
