Mina have been done for about a month ready for my son to collect when they visit for the day before Christmas. My grandchildren have birthdays in January and February so they are ready also. I will be posting one card which can go next week when I'm at the post office.Gem-gem said:DH has just worked out his train journey - worked out all the different connotations -ticket-split - going to save himself £5.90
I have written our Christmas cards ( yes, I know that there is still two months to go). Saw two friends at the weekend, gave them their cards - £1.30 saved. Hoping to save a small fortune in postage. 😁
So less stressful to have things ready in advance and it doesnt take that long to do.

If someone gave me a Christmas card in October I am afraid it would go in the bin ! Far too early ! I will be saving money by not sending many cards this year ...Bah Humbug!Gem-gem said:

Christmas chatty emails for me in many cases this year to save costs and the planet wherever possible except for my very elderly contacts who don,t use computers . I always feel "What a waste," when I take the cards down and throw them into the recycling bin after Christmas if I an,t find home for them in our library childrens' craft groups or similar sources .6

Mine arent actual Christmas cards, bar one, as I give Christmas gift cards (7 for £1 from the card factory. Plus if I got a card now I'd put it in the drawer until December. I wouldn't bin something someone had made the effort to send me.oystercatcher said:

One aunt who is an octogenarian - her birthday card / Christmas card are sitting in my spare room - unwritten - I won't write these until the day before I see her. Her presents - I have chosen for her - but would be able to give to several other people.Primrose said:
With two months to go before Christmas and many of our Christmas card contacts in the "elderly" age group classification with various medical afflictions, I wouldn,t dare risk being that well prepared. Last Christmas found us sadly having to make several adjustments or deletions to our regular mailing list.Gem-gem said

DH and I prefer to do smaller food shops because it is easier to check that all the discounts have gone through. Went to Tesc0's today - bought two books and some chocs for Christmas. Two chocs received their club card discount but the book didn't. The lady at the till sorted it all out - no probs. But I wonder how many people overpay because discounts haven't gone through or charged at price advertised?2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I suspect I'd be guilty of not checking discounts. I hate the hassle of grocery shopping so much that I've always conducted it as a military operation, writing the list according to the aisle locations in order to be IN AND OUT in the shortest possible time. My OH on the other hand likes to linger over virtually every item in every aisle and got so fed up with my haste that he now prefers to do supermarket shopping alone !!5

I always try and check discounts now as I have found they have been missed at the check out many times. Luckily I usually only have a few items so it’s easy but it us near impossible on a large shop!3

Been a while since I've added a reply been reading every day thanks for ifo re gift cards in card factory never would have looked there I've scaled things down the last few yrs cos I never see those I was buying for and the gifts remained ungiven this is before the virus restrictions
Not sure if it will be of help but 1 thing I do to make sure reduced items go through correctly is to put them through on a separate transaction so that if I'm not self scanning in which I would notice straight away
It would be a much shorter receipt
Another thing I do is I try to scan things in groups so again it would be a bit easier to notice any errors I hope this is helpfull
I made 2 hampers for the first time last Xmas and both granddaughters were very happy 17yr old and 20 Yr old I think there mum was a little bit jealous cos she didn't get a hamper this year I will be doing 4 hampers 1 each I found it much easier than trying to come up with 1 gift idea they are the only family I see regularly aside from my youngest son
I'm hoping it will be money-saving again I did a treats hamper felt a bit bad cos 20yr old couldn't taste anything due to having covid in September almost 14 month and she still can't taste or smell and now has to long covid issues2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year11 -
If one is giving gift hampers I think perhaps certain essential "nice" but slightly more expensive items are a good idea. It will save the recipients money but still mean they will be useful and used.8
