    Saving ha'penies, even:

I usually buy carrots without the green, because that is the way A1di sell them. I do not particularly like them that way, but as they usually end up in a stew or a sauce, it doesn't really matter and it is much cheaper. When I can, I buy them with the green on. I then take the green off and keep it in a baggy in the veg drawer of the fridge, and take out a few bits of green at a time, to feed our two rabbits.

The moneysaving bit: I do not cut off the green with scissors, but 'turn' the green until it breaks off. This leaves a tiny bit of growth. Whenever I prep these carrots, I cut off the top with the bit of green, and put it in a deep saucer with some water. The green will regrow :)

Where do you buy Castile soap bars? I've only seen the liquid form.

Poundstretcher sells Knights Castille soap for 90p for 4 bars.

Unsubscribing to the companies that do not give me a personalised discount, to stop tempting me from buying.

Hubby and I often buy one large breakfast and share it, rather than one regular and one small breakfast.

I am looking into making my own body sugar scrubs instead of buying them. Has anyone got any good money saving recipes that they have tried and tested?

Went out for a meal with family, restaurant was next to the hotel we were staying in.
Ordered main course and one drink each.

Glass of sherry before we went out (from home). (Money saved).

Puddings in restaurant prices ranged around £4.50 - £6.50 each so for four people it would have cost £18 - £26. Four ice-creams bought from Aldi - 89p for all four so a saving of £17+

Shared a bottle of wine bought from home. After the meal back in the hotel room. More money saved.

I use coffee grounds mixed with sugar and a little water (to dissolve the sugar a tad) and a teaspoon of oil (usually olive, but any will do).

I also use plain old oats soaked in water, I add a little orange flower water for scent. This one is very soothing and softening, but doesn't clog my skin up.

Thanks for the ideas. I can't stand the smell of coffee so I will steer clear of that recipe. But the oats sounds interesting.
