Pip ive not seen many value stuff for months. I did wonder if supermarkets are trying to phase a lot of the value items out

I think so, but get complaining! Sainsbury's have brought back their Basics cat litter after a number of customers complained. I mean, who want to pay 2-3 times the price for something your cat is going to poop in?!?!

They have also reinstated their Basics dishwasher tablets.

I really miss the Basics salmon trimmings, as they were much better quality than others. I bought Tesco's on one occasion and they were just full of bones. Are Asda's any good? One wonders what happens to the trimmings now? If they used to have enough market to supply all the supermarkets? I just can't afford to buy it in other forms, but they had a really nice recipe on Eat Well for Less (features in one of their recipe books, for a smoked salmon frittata using trimmings). We can rarely have it now.

If you receive a bottle of perfumed body lotion in a set (with matching perfume), I mix some of the body lotion with a non-perfumed lotion (Nivea) and you have double the amount of perfumed body lotion.

I always bring lunch to work, but when we have a company lunch, I bring containers :D

I've been known to do this as well. Many a time I have gone home with a doggie box for hubby.

Asda salmon trimmings are nice. Hubby goes there specifically for these.

When I put the matching body lotion on I do it bother to put the perfume on that day.
Ms Chocaholuc- that is a good idea.

Two White tops and a white dressing gown have all become off white and got stained with hair dye around the collar, before I would have chopped them up or checked them out. Today I dyed them all dark blue with Dylon. Turned out well (but had to give the washing machine an extra wash to clean it out and wipe around several time around the seal).

I save all my left over pastry trimming and wrapin cling film and freeze this morning I have enough to make some jam tarts for my DGS's for when they come home from school. I will use up a couple of almost empty jam jars forthe fillings I have lemon curd, raspberry and strawberry jams that have enough in the bottom for a few tarts, and then I will use the last of the pastry and fill with golden syrup mixed with some crushed up cereal. I save the end bits from the cereal boxes and a lock'n'lock box until I have enough to use in a sort of treacle tart mixture I add a small handful of the tropics granola in as well :) nowt goes to waste in my house . I also freeze sausages in singles or two at a time as well as rashers of bacon in twos I live alone so my meals are usually smaller than a family sized one If I see a large pie in M&S reduced I will portion it up into five or six slices and freeze wrapped in clingfilm then a slice with veg added makes a meal for me no problem :):) A M&S pie reduced to £2.50 will do me for five meals with veg costed out around 80p per meal or a quid if I add a pudding or HM soup :)

Jackie O, my mum use to give my sister and I the pastry trimmings for us to make jam tarts with. Nothing as elaborate as lemon curd. But like you whatever we had open/ left in the cupboard. I have also frozen my leftover pastry and sometimes make tarts or little fruit pie with the reminants.

When I have left over pastry, I usually mix in/roll in some grated cheese over the surface and make cheese straws. These are the sneaky treats which get eaten hot when taken straight from the oven. A little paprika or cayenne pepper shaken over the surface before cooking adds a little bit of heat.

    That sounds really tasty.
