Hi all. I haven't been in here for ages! Quite a while ago I found this webpage with lots of quick tips and all manner of house stuff. Some save time, some save money, some save both. Not sure if I posted it already, so here it is.

I've just started doing this. The face wipes you buy are often too large for small jobs like mopping up runs of eye makeup. I now chop one wipe into 4, fold them and store them in an old face cream container which has a good tight lid to stop the moisture from evaporating. I even use them more than once.0

This saves the pennies in a roundabout way. If you go shopping and forget to take your loyalty card (I'm thinking Mr T, Mr S, Bo0ts, etc), keep the receipt, take it with you next time you go, along with your card, and ask them to apply the points. There might be a cut off for how long you can leave it to get the points applied, but so far, on the rare occasions that it's happened to me, I haven't been refused.2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

If you rinse, dry and then crush egg shells into smallish pieces, you can put them down the kitchen/bathroom sink etc. and then let the water run a bit.
Any gunk will be eased down when it catches on the sharp edges, helping the waste pipes remain clear and clean.
I've just started doing this.
I probably read it here,but thought I'd post it again.1 -
You know how there are always breadcrumbs left in an empty bag of bread (if you buy sliced bread, that is)? I tip them into one of those locking plastic containers and keep them in the fridge until I have enough to use in a recipe. It doesn't take long for us, as a family of five who collectively love toast and sandwiches.2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

I found an article in the daily mail which you can read in 'goodness direct 'website, click on 'super simple healthy eating hacks'. Don't peel your potatoes, they have more nutrition unpeeled and you don't need to throw bits of them away, just trim eyes and any bad bits. MSE and healthy. Some other tips on there too, too much to write down !
We have been doing this ever since we went on holiday to Florida & all their fries were served with skin on and the mashed potato was also served with the skin mashed in. When I thought about it I realised how silly it is that we will eat the skin on a jacket potato but peel the skin off for any other potato based food :rotfl:
They do taste great too.
I also do the same with sweet potato, just cut in to wedges with skin on & roast in the oven with a bit of oil, salt & pepper. Tastes great & surprisingly filling!0 -

I like this idea. We use breadcrumbs in our meatloaf, meatballs and burger recipes but have always bought the prepacked breadcrumbs. This is a much better idea because we always go through at least one loaf of bread a day for sandwiches etc.0 -
Not to mention the number of breadcrumbs which fall out of our toaster when you hold it upside down or empty the bottom crumb collection tray !0

I can't remember the last time I peeled a potato, I do wedges, chips, roasties, boiled, crisps, all the fancies like potatoes Anna and of course jackets etc. I never bother with mash because although I like it I can't be bothered to peel the potatoes so thank you for the tip, I'm certainly going to try it0
