Rather than spending lots of money on expensive hair repair conditioners by combing (gently) a blob (about size of 10p) of cheap conditioner on your hair the night before you wash it (assuming you wash it in the morning) your hair will be lovely and silky soft, just the same as if you used an intensive conditioner.

  • You can use cheap (asda smart price just a few pence for a large bottle) and use this to shave legs. Works well and leaves them smoooooth! Also add a few drops of lemon essential oil to a bottle of body lotion and this will keep the midges away.
  • Try putting a teaspoon of olive oil (or any other) in the bottom of a warm pan (not hot) before adding water and pasta and it won't stick to the bottom of the pan.

My wirly gig is about 20+ years old and seen better days. I couldn't believe the price of new ones and they seem to have a lot of placcie bits on them. I saw a new wirly gig replacement washing line in a charity shop for 99p so I snapped it up. Over the weekend, DH and me replaced the line and its looking fine and dandy. saved myself £20+ and took about 40 minutes to do. The old line has been used in the garden. :)

Not sure if this has been posted previously but as I was doing hard boiled eggs yesterday I thought I ought to add this to the thread.

It's a tip I got from one of the old Shirley Goode frugal kitchen books:

To do soft boiled eggs: place eggs in cold water, bring up to boil and turn off the gas/electricity. Leave covered for 5 minutes then serve.

For hard boiled eggs: place eggs in cold water, bring to the boil, boil for 2 minutes. Leave covered for 20 minutes, drain, crack shells gently and place in cold water. Leave 10 minutes before shelling. This method stops the blue ring forming around the yolk, which is a bonus.

Don't waste the egg boiling water - allow to cool and use to water plants as it is full of minerals.

Hope these tips are of some help to others.

I buy those individual sachets of facepack from superdrug when they are on 3 for 2. Always thought anything left after one go would dry up but decided to see what would happen.Seems they are fine for a couple of weeks :)
So now i just fold the pack over couple of times - secure with a peg and it means i can get 2 or 3 applications from one pack!

Are you sure? I have both in the cupboard at the mo and calories are the same for each. However, Asda do sell a 'less fat' option smooth peanut butter :)

I guess they mean you will spread it thinner i.e. no chunky lumps

I save the plastic lids from packs of Pringles and use them under sauce bottles, oil bottles, salt pots etc.....they save a lot of mess in the cupboards. They're also handy to cover the top of pet food cans once opened.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Yes, you can't spread the chunky on as thin. Should have explained myself better!
