don't know if this has been posted elsewhere as i am new to this thread! I use two dispersable (sp) aspirins in my pasta pan when we have done, leave it soaking with those two in it and the pasta (as we nearly always have some stuck somehow) comes straight offSPC6 #116 £652.75

Keep any leftovers in your fridge that need using up near the front and in clear containers so they are in your eyeline when you open the door.
If, like me, you loathe making certain things cooking wise a couple of tricks I use are
-when coating hm chicken nuggets put beaten egg in one marg pot and breadcrumbs in the other so you can dip the chicken pieces in the egg with a fork and then do the same with the breadcrumbs.
-making crumble topping. I have a pastry mixer handle thingy that I bought for 75p from the CS.
-Make meatballs using an icecream scoop
-I purchased a burger maker from Lakeland Plastics [I know it's not frugal to have to buy something in the first place] but it now means I can/will make hm burgers whereas before I didn't because I hated handling the meat.
Coat meat with flour prior to cooking by shaking in a plastic bag [I use the ones from the cereal boxes.]

Don't throw away those plastic flat trays that you get when you buy fresh broadbeans etc.
They are handy for:
* We have bought a sallad growing kit that we keep in the windowsill, I have put one tray underneath to stop the water dripping on the windowsill
* Keeping forks, spoons etc. separate when you are having a party
* To put underneath mincemeat etc when you are defrosting it in the fridge - we have limited fridge space and this takes less space than a plate. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

I use one of those plastic trays under my bottle of cooking oil so it doesn't stain the cupboard shelf.

Get rid of sky tv! best thing i did, stops kids glued to the telly all day but to compensate we have a dvd night once a month (the kids get to choose their own dvd's, usually less than a fiver at asda) and have a good old munch on the living room carpet as treat on its own as eating is not allowed in the living room.
got the kids a telly each off of freecycle for their rooms but all they can do is watch dvds and video's on them, video's are 20p a pop at most car boots.
What I only found out a couple of days ago is that Tesco offers free online movies for its Clubcard Customers- I have a clubcard since so many years, but never new about this- I always paid £5 each month for Lovefilm Instant! That got cancelled straight away :-)0 -

Hw to cook rice:
Take a large cup of rice
Put in saucepan
Measure exactly one and a half cups of water - same cup.
( no it doesn't look enough.. But try it once.. You'll see it is)
Add water to rice, put lid on saucepan and bring to boil.
When it reaches boiling point..the water will bubble to the centre.
Turn it off. Wait around 20 minutes.
Perfect rice, no fuel cost and an almost clean saucepan to wash.
I haven't tried it with rice but always use this method with pasta - though I don't measure the water just put in enough to cover it.Back on the trains again!0 -
Add a good handful of breadcrumbs to bologneise, chilli, savoury mince dishes. It is undetectable ;-) I always wizz any leftover bread and freeze it which is perfect for this
Porridge oats and red split lentils will also add bulk and both are inexpensive, plus extra protein from the lentils.0
