DLA high mobility, any other help out there?

Hi everyone
I have neen on DLA for a couple of years at low mobility and medium care, but my condition has worsened and i have therefore been awarded high mobility with the medium care.

When we went to look for mobility cars the chap told me i am now able to get a blue badge - will will be a godsend being able to park close to hospital/shops etc - but i wondered if there is anything else out there that can make my life easier that i am now eligable for?

I don't want to sound greedy, but if there are more schemes out there to make ones life easier its better to know, it just seems quite hard finding out about the help you can get.

I really appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me.

- if on income based benefits, you get disability premiums

im not so sure about the bus pass or maybe it depends on the are you live in
i'm on LRM and receive a pass but they dont give them to people on HRM as if they cant walk sufficently to use public transport they wouldnt be getting HRM!

^ but there are other criteria for HRM that have nothing to do with walking. However, those people would be refused a driving licence for medical reasons.

a friend of mine gets HRM and she was refused! in so many words they told her the HRM was to pay for taxi's or she could use dial a ride!
i'm not saying its right, just the way it was

It is always best to check your facts before posting nannytone, rather than relying on hearsay.

Whilst DLA is not mentioned in the TA, the criteria for DLA meets the criteria for a bus pass.

I don't understand what you mean sh1305, I get HRM and I have a driving licence! The fact that you are on HRM doesn't mean you can't drive. I have an automatic car which is adapted - there are many disabled drivers.

I think she means that other groups qualify for a bus pass (and DLA) by virtue of not being allowed to drive, as well as those who qualify due to walking difficulties.

There are two groups of people on HRM that aren't allowed to drive. (severe mental impairment and deafblind)

it wasnt hear say. I was present when she was refused.

if you notice though i didnt say getting a pass was impossible, just passing on something that happened where i live
