Hi all
I am asking this question on behalf of a friend (just like going to the doctor - 'My friend....!!!)
He was on O2 with a deal he liked but wanted a specific phone (HTC Desire). He decided to leave O2 and join Orange. He got the phone he wanted and prted his number to Orange. The contract was signed 7 days ago (17-4-10). This was done IN A SHOP AND NOT ONLINE.
Since last week O2 have announced that they are now stocking the HTC Desire.
He would rather go back to O2 as it was a slightly better deal. He has been told by Orange that he doesn't have a 14 day cooling off period as he bought it from a shop and not online. Is this true?
Personally I would have thought that it was rubbish and that they are just trying to put him off.
Obviously I don't know the T&C's as it isn't my phone/contract. Any general ideas would be helpful.
Regards,

Sorry, I'm afraid they're right. There is no automatic right of return for goods bought in shops unless they are faulty. Distance Selling Regulations give a 7 day cooling off period for items bought online because you don't have the opportunity to see before you buy but when you buy in store you do have the opportunity to inspect the goods hence no return, unless the retailer happens to allow returns on a goodwill basis.0
