Tesco mobile - for business

I have been shopping for a mobile provider for a while now and so far, it has been a horrible experience. My problem is that my company (Ltd.) is new (2 months) and I am also new to UK (6 months, EU national).
So far I talked to T-Mobile where I didn't pass a credit check and T-Mobile now refuses to talk to me. Then I tried Vodafone business where we decided to do the credit check on a company in EU that I also own (which should pass) but the representative always forgets to call back to do the check.
I found Tesco mobile offer for 15/month for 500 minutes + internet and 30-days rolling contract (no 2 years contracts), which is actually VERY cheap, compared to other providers. But Tesco says in their terms that this offer is consumer only. I am wondering how many problems would I have with ordering this on my Ltd. and especially putting this to my expenses.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Not sure to be honest - I am not a Ltd company but a sole trader and use a Virgin PAYG phone and then claim it back from my business.0

I use a Virgin Liberty SIM and they credit checked my new at the time Ltd without any problems. It's the rolling contract type like the Tesco one you mention...they just put £100 credit limit but as the bundle is so generous you will never need it...so I guess they don't need to be ultra strict with the credit check.

With the Liberty package you get a monthly direct debit and full VAT invoice which is good for accounting and budgeting purposes. You will need to buy a phone, if you ask around loads of people have last years model lying unused at home
I never get why people buy contract phones, you pay £100-200 extra a year which soon outweighs the cost of the "free" phone and you get tied into a contract.0 -
I am a LTD company as well as a land-line i have a tesco PAYG mobile, and i have had no problem at all with the vat etc....
all i do is go to customer services for my top-ups and ask for a vat receipt....plus if you top up my £15 they give you £45 free, and they use the free talk time first....
I use the same budgeting, household, thrifty, tightwad... ethos in work too:money: once you mention business to anything, they automatically think they can charge you more money for the same product.....same as wedding, baby etc.....lol..
If you are a new business, you really do need to watch your cashflow, so i wouldnt personally tie myself up to a contract mobile phone...Work to live= not live to work0 -
9.8 Tesco Mobile is a consumer service. If you do use Tesco Mobile for business or commercial purposes you will compensate us for all liabilities, claims, damages, losses and costs (including legal costs) which we may suffer because someone (other than you) makes or threatens a claim against us because Tesco Mobile is faulty or cannot be used by them.
Sooo.
They are fine about it if you are. NOTE THOUGH... you will not get a proper VAT receipt. It's 20% of the invoice obviously but the taxman could get grumpy about reclaims if they really wanted to.
However you can still claim anyway. Search the HMRC site for "VAT alternative evidence"0 -
If that last bit wasn't clear - I meant they could give you a hard time but actually EU laws insist you don't need a VAT receipt anyway if you have alternate forms of evidence of business use.0

eg for a top up of £15 the OP will have paid £2.50 vat.
I have a Ltd company and have had no problems with charging my personal mobile back to the company each month with my expenses claim.0 -

This thread is almost 2 years old
and the OP never came back, but hopefully they have sorted themseilves out in the past 24 months.
However, I'm not sure why you think Tesco will not issue a genuine VAT invoice, especially when COOLTRIKERCHICK has already confirmed they will.
I suggest you check the HMRC site for documentary requirements when charging VAT"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
