O2 sim in Tesco phone works, right?!

OH has just bought a Genio Slide on Tesco Mobile.

He has an O2 sim, but we have been assured on numerous occasions that it would work as tesco piggybacks on the O2 network.

He put his O2 sim in, switched it off & the phone asks for a SP code! What's that all about?! Does this mean that the phone is locked to Tesco Mobile after all?!

Please help!

TIA.

They may use the same network, but they use different network codes to log in.

An SP lock message means you'll have to get the phone unlocked before it'll work on anything but the network it was sold on.

So we were misinformed? So many have claimed that they work!

    Are you sure?

A Tesco SIM will work in a locked O2 phone, though not the other way around without unlocking.
