Letting Agents contacted guarantor

I think that I understand why the LA are now contacting the guarantor for the arrears of rent."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

but you would have to wait anyway- both times i've ended contracts i've got my full deposit back but had to wait weeks- that's just the way it is
if there was no inventory as you say you will def get it back- not paying your rent isn't going to make you look good is it? i also don't think your guarantor will want to act for you again if you cause hassle for them?0 -

The rent is due and in arrears and the guarantor has guaranteed payment of the rent. They have an address to write to and issue proceedings if necessary. You are only contactable by email and telephone which are not valid for notices regarding proceedings to be sent. You are not likely to pay the rent outstanding and merely reiterate that it be deducted from the deposit - this may not be even possible as the money is held in a scheme."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

She also stated that there was a cabinet missing (which I gave the LA notice to remove, which they didn't, so I did).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

They are within their rights to use both the deposit arbitration scheme and the guarantor to get the rent. Any sensible LL would pursue both in case one method fails.
While witholding rent was a strategy that made sense with unscrupulous landlords, the need for it has been largely removed by the deposit protection scheme, the whole point of which was to avoid these situations.
You will need to pay the arrears ASAP by either surrendering your deposit to the LL right away, or by paying up as you should have done and claiming your deposit yourself.
If you can get it confirmed there are no other issues with damages then you won't even need arbitration to get your deposit back, just get on and pay the rent.0 -

So, you requested that the missing cabinet was removed from the property because it was surplus to your requirements and when it wasn't you disposed of it without permission? I'd charge you full whack for replacing that item. Whatever the landlord supplies is your responsibility to look after, not chuck out in the rubbish if it doesn't suit. Very, very foolish of you indeed0
