SimIsOnTheUp wrote: »Hiya guys.
I'm still hungover, after stupidly drinking all afternoon / evening, on Friday.
Can't believe I did this, after going 5 weeks sober :-(
I got the job, working for the taxi company, which was / is great.
I think I'd been feeling so nervous, and anxious about the interview, that afterwards, it was me drinking on the relief / anxiety (which was strangely, still there a bit, while in town) / celebrating getting the job
Was knocking back the double vodka and tonics, in my local Wetherspoons pub, at about 3pm, after drinking since about 1pm in a couple of town pubs..was badly sick in the loo at Wetherspoons - grim.
Then my mate met me in the pub, and we carried on drinking for another hour.
He left (lives in a nearby city), as he had to drive back, and I carried on boozing alone, in Wetherspoons' - they really are awful pubs aren't they? :-/
Girlfriend then met me in another pub - she was great, and we came back to mine, fairly early - about 9 I think.
However, at about 4am this morning, she ended up having a go at me, literally the second I'd woken up, and became physically abusive. She ended up hitting me quite hard on my back.
I picked up the phone, and told her, that if she carried on I'd call the Police.
She then hit me about another 5 times, quite hard on my arm, and back. She's actually b*ggered up a muscle in my back, just under my shoulder blade :-/
She's as nice as pie today, having gone and got some grub (I gave her the dosh for this), and we watched Transformers DVD, and watched trashy telly.
All apologetic, saying she's "so sorry", and worried that she's "cooked [my] goose now haven't I Sim?"
I really don't know know what to do, as she hit me quite hard on my arm about 6 weeks back, when she scrunched up my debit card too.
This is domestic violence right?
A bit in shock really, and I need to concentrate on getting all the forms filled out, for the taxi license application and medical (6 - 8 weeks). My focus now, is to be getting back to working hard, and staying sober.
This is an abusive relationship, and it isn't helping.
Good Night all.
Sleep tight.

Congrats on getting the job. Well done you.:A:T
As for the situation with your GF only you can decide what to do next.
You have gone 5 weeks sober, you can do it again and more.
Just remember the important one in all this is you
Try to get some sleep and take care

I'm in no position to judge but drinking brings out the worst in more situations than some people would dare to admit.
PLEASE don't take this the wrong way but ask yourself "would I have been hurt if I'd been sober yesterday?".
From a partners point of view, a drinker can be incredibly frustrating. I know, I've been one and I was an absolute swine to be with. Yeah, we do still have the odd row but they don't really kick off like they used to when I drank.
If I F%%% up, it's me that's done it and I've enough bottle now to face up to it. And apologise. Somethimes even when I don't think I'm in the wrong. Life is easier when I don't drink.
take care.

When I first found the very first thread Bismarck was my inspiration. He talked me out of having 'Just One' many times at the beginning of my journey.
For the last two Xmas's I have been Alcohol Free and have bought myself gold bracelets each year in the Bismarck design.....just a little reminder..........
Eselt....I think you also have given excellent advice over the last couple of years...so thank you to you too:A
Right...sorry not much time to catch up....back off holiday and flung head first into yet ANOTHER family crisis.:(
See you later
Love Mollypollyxxxx
Thanks Molly.
I had to take some time out for good reasons. Need to remain anonymous so won't say any more.
Things may get bad in the future but I KNOW my actions have saved more lives around me than I dare to think sometimes.
I look at my chidren and a ghost passes before my eyes of the monster I was becoming.
SO close. And I had so much to lose and I loved them and yet I nearly broke everything that was in my path.
I will always have to face up to pain and loss but I owe it to them to do my best to stay alive and be there for them.
I chose to have them. They need me.
I need the good me.
We all have so much potential if we accept who we are.
Take care everyone. Always try and improve yourselves.
And Molly - the bracelet really makes me smile.
I never thought words from a distance could have so much impact. I am really pleased they can.

Some wise words on here last night, lovely to hear from you again Bismarck, hope things are all ok with you now..
Sim, sorry to hear about your lousy Friday/Saturday, hope things are clearer for you today, have you ever heard of something called 'self sabotage' sometimes people do this subconsciously when they are doing well as for some underlying reason part of them doesn't want to achieve what they set out to achieve (I read about it in relation to diets but it applies to any type of goal) I am probably making no sense but it sounds like you are sometimes doing really well like getting the job or starting your volunteering etc. and then something in you sabotages all your good intentions etc. really hope the job works out...
Went out last night with good friends as I am moving back down south next weekend, was a good night and I knew I would be drinking but I was really moderate and think because I stayed off the wine and had a good meal to start off with i feel fine this morning :j am looking forward to an af night tonight though !
Jo, with your allergy thing, maybe if you stay off the drink and your symptoms improve then whatever it is will be a great motivator to stay off the booze..good luck hun, we are all here and right behind you xxx
Got more packing to look forward to today but at least I havn't got to face it with a hangover like I thought I might be, dh is cooking breakfast soon to, sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomatoes

Just one more AF day here - nothing on Friday and then yesterday I had some wine at lunch (and diet busting meal!).
Some friends are coming over for the afternoon/evening and we shall have a BBQ and no doubt something to drink, but not too much I'm sure.
Better go and tidy up now!Trying to keep in budget.
