Parking fine - advice.

I live in a block of flats, of which only permit holders are allowed to park.

I am a holder of two permits.

In one car park (where my car was parked, next to my car in fact) there is a sign which states "Permit holders only".

In the other car park a sign states "you must be a permit holder, or, be displaying a permit, else you will be clamped".

My permit must have blown off the dash when my passenger shut the door, as it was on the carpet. I have recieved a note on my windscreen of notice of an £80 fine.

As a permit holder who lives at this address, but failed to display the permit in the window, - can they enforce this £80 fine on me?!??

Any advice?

There's a specific Parking Fines area on the Motoring section which will help. The general consensus is, if the the ticket is from a private company then simply ignore it as it's unenforceable. You may get a number of letters, each one increasing in their threats to take legal action but don't make any contact with them and they should eventually go away.

Appeal to thier good nature i did and they let me off but they said next time tuff s**t they didn't actually say that but as good as. :rotfl: Did you know that a disabled blue badge is classed as a permit i asked a nice traffic warden who was trying to stop me parking on his head because he only had 1 yellow line around his hat.

to avoid the problem in future can you secure the permit to the windscreen/sun visor

But not as good advice if you park in their carpark every day and night, as it's not unknown to return to find the car clamped.
