misleading photos on pcn appeal rejection

Hi

North Tyneside Council have just rejected my initial appeal of a pcn.

I arrived late at my friends house (having driven from perthshire) and didn't display a visitors permit in the residential zone because a) my friends don't have one, and are still waiting for a permit for themselves from the council and b) they forgot to tell me I needed one. In the morning I had a ticket.
Following this, they told me the reference number they'd been given, which I displayed on my dashboard for the next few days without further tickets.

I appealed, and have the rejection letter. It states "there is a sign where you parked that explains that the bay you parked in is for people with a residents permit". Unfortunately the photo of the sign clearly has the council van in it, and not my unmarked white van. You can see the council logo on it. In another photo you can make out the council van 30 or 40 metres away on the other side of the street. There was no sign between my van and the house I visited.

I understand I parked in a residents bay with no permit, and my friends should have told me. The zone is designed to stop people parking and using the metro, which I wasn't.

The fine doubles to £70 if I'm not successful. Is it worth continuing with the appeal?

If they've made such basic errors its worth the experts having a look at the pcn. can you copy/photo both sides (digital camera/phone on macro), remove any identifying bits but leave dates, host on tinypic. Copy the url and paste it on here then remove the http:// bits.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • I no longer have the original ticket :(
  • I parked in North Shields town centre for less than 10 minutes on Friday. Didn't buy a P&D ticket, I know - my bad! I didn't get a PCN on the windscreen so does this mean I got away with it or could I still get one in the post if a Warden had already seen me on the street?

If it's a pay and display, pay and display. No one will advocate cheating.

For the life of me I can't fathom why you went to a thread last commented on 7 months ago, how did you find it?

Anyway you will have to wait and see on whether you will get a ticket or not, at the moment that is the only advice.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Aaaah, that probably explains it, we often wonder why newbies post on an irrelevant or old thread. As a result of a search, if you stumble across a forum thread that's not from the current week it's always best on any forum to click on the word 'forum' to view the current threads. Here they are:

You were lucky that MSE forums are very very busy so we still saw your post today. On some forums you would never have got a response. :)

Anyhoo, it is a matter and waiting and then if you do get a real (Council) PCN or NtO you can appeal it (as per the advice on any Council ticket thread you see on the board).

It was a council car park was it, rather than a private one with fake PCNs which you could ignore?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I do think we need a thread specifically for real penalty charge notices , its fine posting a new thread for each case, but a thread for general chat and advice would be good thing to have on here.
