General costs involved in renting Studio Flat..?

    Should i sign and send the renewal letter anyway? to cover myself, as it is proof that i wanted to renew. (the agent says do not send and do not pay fee, right now, and wait)

    Im just afraid that in 2 months, they tell me to leave, and i cant do anything as i didnt express my interest to renew.

    The renewal letter, not sure if its binding, as the new contracts would be drafted only after they receive it. And looks like they are not drafting a new contract till the re-mortgage thing is done.

    Re-mortgage means he will be getting a better deal? eg cheaper mortgage?

    If my contract runs out in 2 months, i have to leave if they say, dont i?

    It seems the landlord CAN give me a longer tenancy now, agent said too, only reason they gave was the paperwork with bank i presume, will be easier to follow and smoother transaction if re-mortgage and renewal are in unison.

    We can only guess at the reasons for the landlord wanting a new mortgage, but it is none of our business. It is probably a mere formality but the landlord feels that he can't offer a longish term agreement until he has the new mortgage in place. He is being fair and sensible here.

    The letters at the moment are probably just that - letters. You don't have a new agreement until both you and the landlord have signed it.

    In the unlikely event that your landlord can't obtain a new mortgage, then he must go through the correct procedure for you to leave. Have patience - neither the landlord nor the agent can do anything at the moment, but it looks as though they are quite willing to grant a new tenancy when the re-mortgage is sorted.
