No, only been on the dole 5 weeks, signed on twice and last week had my first back to work meeting.I have not really travelled on the buses that much uptil now, so had no real experience of them, lateness irregularities etc. Having just moved into a new house, and only me and my elderly mother to do things here, decorate etc.I did sign something for being late and have to give my explanation in writing, and they said they would phone back to re-arrange another meeting, but so far they have not.
A friend had been taking us where we had to go the first few weeks, shopping etc, so never used them, but you cannot rely on lifts all the time, so decided get used to and to use the buses, and went off their bus timetable given out at the bus depot.0 -
I was recently at my local job centre and was kept waiting 15 minutes but if I had been 15 mins late it would have been a different story.0

I live 2 miles away from the actual town centre,so that would take me a good hour, baring in mind I have got arthitis in my knees, so walking was not really an option.
Also today I went for a job interview in Wolverhamton which is 5 miles away.Luckily I was not given a set time to attend, only anywhere between 12-2 pm.I arrived well before time.
But waiting for the bus there, you get to the bus stop a full 20 mins before it is due,and still the bus is late,it is supposed to be there for 12.30 but did not appear until 12.47,this particular bus route seems to be well known for appearing when it likes, early, late, so what are you supposed to do.Go out early,it is late, go out a bit later and it probably arrives on time or early, we have been told by locals, baring in mind I have only lived here about 6 weeks, that this is the norm, and most end up walking to town, but am I supposed to walk all the way to Wolverhampton 5 miles away.
At least the buses where I am from or used to live in North Wales were every 15 mins, more often than not punctual and reliable, this West Midlands transport is terrible. Shambolic is the only word, from what you can gather from other users of these buses. If I had the money, I think I would move back to where I have just come from, no jobs here, lousy transport and well not much else, the worst biggest mistake of my life selling up and moving here.

Get the Metro tram from Bilston to Wolverhampton, they run every few minutes and go right into the centre of Wolverhampton.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

what's how many years you have worked etc got to do with anything? if your late your late!!
you already said you knew the bus service was unreliable so should have been out for the earlier bus to save being late, not rocket science! if you have to wait about for a bit then so what.
they won't stop your JSA for being late once...0 -

And JobCentres are often late in signing you on. One rule for one and one for the other, it seems.
Besides, why should you not be able to sign in on the actual day rather than a set time? Surely it wouldn;t make any diffreence - you can just queue up to see someone if it's busy when you arrive. It's not as if you get seen by the same adviser every week or fortnight, anyway!0 -

that's the way it is for loads of things you have appointments for
doctors, dentist etc, they don't always run on time but if your late you need to make a new appointment. You get a set time to sign as how chaotic would it be if everyone to sign on that day turned up at 4.30pm!! not very sensible to do it that way really...0
