Bird's Eye 'Simply' fish - bit of a warning!

I bought these frozen fillets of fish for the first time recently, cooked them in their bags per the box instructions (in fact 5 minutes longer) and they came out of the oven almost raw and still frozen in the middle.
That was tea wasted.
I've just 'phoned the Bird's Eye customer care line and the chap I spoke to was very pleasant and said they'd look into it and drop me a letter within the next week.
So, if anyone else has these in their freezer, my advice is to Nuke them thoroughly as being 'bagged' you can't check on their progress before you take them out.

Hmm, had these a few times before and they have cooked fine. The pieces are small compared to fresh fish, and you cook them for a lot longer than your would fresh fish. Have you checked your oven temperature is right? Our old oven, 200C on dial = 200 in the oven, but 170C on the dial (I think these are that?) = 120C in the oven.0

It's either you or your oven. Have used 'simply fish' 2 or 3 times and they are what they are...but following the instructions have always have been cooked. You can always stick them back in the oven in some tinfoil for another few minutes...problem solved0

OP says nuked , implying that they used a microwave.
Simply fish as others have pointed out are cooked in a conventional oven.
Have had these several times myself, cooked them in my Remoska with no problems. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

OO-ERRR!
Thanks all for your input, but I still can't understand why they were SO undercooked - oven is pretty bang-on and I certainly heated it up first...
Feel like apologising to Bird's Eye now!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 -
I haven't tried it yet but do have them in the freezer at the moment. So thank you OP and everyone who has posted on here.0

We've had loads of the Simply Fish products (Mainly the Sweet Chilli Prawns) and never had a problem apart from the fact there wasn't enough of themIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

Out of interest , how long are you supposed to cook them for? If I cook fish from the freezer it takes a good 45 mins.
TBH, I think they're a bit of a rip off, you can achieve exactly the same result with a bit of tin foil, and some herbs, and get a piece of fish that's big enough!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
It was 25 minutes for the ones I had - but the pieces of fish are very small compared to "real" fish. I'd cook normal size pieces for far longer.
I agree they are expensive, but they seem to quite frequently be on offer at below half price.0 -
I go for the seaside specials, these are not birds eye they are real de boned cod or haddock fillets that the fishermen sell on the seafront, just stick them in the george foreman grill for 20 mins and wallah! the freshest perfect fish you will ever eat, 10 times cheaper than from birds eye processed stuff and all 100% fish mmmm mm mm mmOwed out = lots. :cool:0
