Agree with Paul_R.
Converting the .avi file to 320x240 divx or xvid with either aac or mp3 audio you should be able to get a 5min video file down to around 20-30MB.
Maybe still too large to email, but it will upload to a file sharing place much faster than 150MB.
SUPER is a good tool with lots of options for this kind of thing. VirtualDub will also do it, but you'd need to install the xvid and LAME mp3 codecs yourself (SUPER already has these built in)

Every referral gets you an extra 500 mb of data space ..
I posted about 600 mb of pics ( from a wedding) and all the family in Oz used my drop box to download them.
Good , fast and an email link lets anybody you wish gain access.0 -
the easiest way to share video I've found online is called videosprout.com - you end up just sending a link and the recipient just has to click on it to watch your video and it's free. The service converts your file into an flv format (Flash). You don't need to worry about file size that way...0
