Just logged into my Ulster Bank credit card account and there was a message saying if I was stranded because of the disruption they could temporarily increase my limit to cover costs
  • Has anyone been contacted by their bank offering to extend their credit limit due to volcanic ash travel problems?

I got a text from RBS the other day.

All these offers of help seems to be coming from banks which the government owns or have helped financially..!!!
  • Yes, does seem to be the Govt banks, I've had one from Halifax and Barclays - do you think it is a bit cynical? is it just an excuse to try and make people increase their credit limits or a genuine attempt to help? It is a bit cheeky sending out unsolicited text messages - especially when it seems most people were not even abroad..

Update: I've just received another one, this time from Ulster Bank.

Halifax and Lloyds are going to waive any late payment or overlimit fees incurred by customers who were stranded abroad and used their accounts for essential expenditure. I don't see how that's profiteering!

Since when was Barclays a government bank?

I really don't think it's cheeky. It's proactive and helpful to those who need support at a difficult time.

Well Lloyds are giving people overdrafts to people who are not eligible to help them come home.

They are waivering charges as well.

Their travel insurance is paying out.

HOW EXACTLY ARE THEY MAKING A PROFIT?
