It sounds like you needs some friends, rather than a new partner right at this moment.
So how about starting by inviting some of the kids friends round, give yourself the chance to chat with the parents. If there is another single parent around they might be glad of someone else in a similar position to do things with the kids with.
How about seeing if there is a local chapter of gingerbread you could join.
Get involve with some of the kids activities, even taking the kids swimming you will find you start talking to the other parents and may find a friend there.
Get to know your neighbours, get outside the front of your house, wash the windows or do some gardening and start saying hello to them, or even try getting brave and inviting one in for coffee and a chat some time.0
